Wireless charging options.

Post by mrwkuk » Fri Jun 23, 2023 7:47 pm

My car didnt come with the wireless charger, so I am looking at options to retrofit. I know i could get the legit one, but I suspect thats going to be quite spendy so an interim solution would be good.

Looking at something like this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Wireless-Charg ... 0B1JG562P/

Has anyone used one of these? do they fit? or got a better suggestion?

I know some people have had heat issues due to the low airflow in that location. I think that was mostly iphones tho. Ive not had any problems with my pixel 7 getting hot on a wireless charger (altho ive not done it for an extended drive).

I have one of those, tried it in my F11. Issue I had was it interfered with DAB reception and mobile signal.

I just plug into to usb now and charge that way.

So i bought one anyway, because it was cheap enough, and seems to work fine. No DAB issues, at least when parked.

Remains to be seen if the mobile reception is impacted significantly but it looked ok.

The only real down side is cable routing. I might look at doing something about that later.

So I ordered this from
Amazon and if you remove the tray that is currently in there it sits perfectly.
Phone charges and no overheating issues like with oem bmw wireless charging.

Good solution.
