Just put on Michellin 4S from the factory MPSS. Huge difference. Not sure about the longevity or noise (it's a sports car - who cares).
Much much better cold grip, and when I mean cold I mean <25C. The MPSS don't grip until you're giving the car some serious stick and get the tyres real hot. Fine for getting that Nurburgring time, but awful for UK roads unless it's a heatwave. 4S grip with minimal heat.
Also much softer ride on 4S, the sidewall of the MPSS is seriously rigid. If you find the stock car a bit crashy, this is why.
But ... and this is another reaosn I think they put MPSS on the car at factory, turn in response with 4S is noticably less sharp. it still sticks in the corner, but ... the car's nose darted in with the slightest flick on MPSS but with 4S there is a FRACTION of a second delay on a steering flick. I'm happy with this, I'd rather have the grip and the turn-in is still pretty good, still much better then a light fronted mid-engine car (I've had a couple).

That sounds like quite a deal. May be looking at two new rears soon (Couple of thousand miles) so wouldn't mind knowing where you got that deal and what you think of them compared with the presumed Bridgestone's you have on now.

That figures.
Perhaps they may not notice if we swapped cars for a day when I need new ones

Worth a try, though your petrol costs may negate any savings. Plus, would need to rears as fronts generally last more than a couple of weeks.

Andy. Did you get the conti sports contact 7 or premium contact 7?

Apparently they are worse for fuel consumption, but better grip.Argyll Andy wrote: ↑Mon Mar 04, 2024 8:26 amFirst ones Oriori wrote: ↑Mon Mar 04, 2024 12:35 amSeeing as I will need nee tyres soon, I’m bumping this.Argyll Andy wrote: ↑Sun Apr 30, 2023 10:31 pm Conti 7’s for both price and performance. Fuel consumption is never a consideration for me when getting tyres for the Zed, on the other hand, facing in the correct direction is a priorityori wrote: ↑Mon Mar 04, 2024 8:52 amApparently they are worse for fuel consumption, but better grip.Argyll Andy wrote: ↑Mon Mar 04, 2024 8:26 amFirst ones Ori

Thats a good price for the rears. I have seen the same advertised for as much as £60 more each.
Will be needing 2 new rears in about another 1K or so. Will definitely be putting on the Conti 7s from all the good feedback.
Wonder if it will balance the fuel consumption concerns by having the new Conti 7s on the rear and having the Michelins still on the front for another 10k miles thats left on them?

The difference in fuel consumption must be relatively marginal…I’d be more concerned with having some less grippy front tyres for 10k miles..Nanu wrote: ↑Mon Mar 04, 2024 8:43 pm Thats a good price for the rears. I have seen the same advertised for as much as £60 more each.

We choose to go to on with this endeavour at this time and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard…
