Tyres Tyres Tyres!
So the M40i’s 19” rear tyres are up for replacement ( currently nearing a super slick approach )
Currently running the Michelin Pilot Super Sports that came on the car and I have been very impressed with them but wonder peoples thoughts and what people are running. I see Continental SportContact 7’s get a great review too and I’ve seen a few people move from Michelin to Conti’s. (Also Conti SC5’s are on offer at a local garage but seem a less premium option being the 5).
Anyone running PZero’s? ( friend has these on his Mac 570GT and likes them.
I know the Pilots Sport 4 S tyre replaced the PSS didn’t it? They seem about 10% more cost per corner where as the PS4 is the same if not 2-4% less than the PSS…How does the PS4 rate (i would presume less good than the PSS)
Tell me what you have and what you think!

Conti 7’s for both price and performance. I got mine on offer at kwik fit for £650 ish for a full set. Much quieter than all Michelins I’ve had and don’t need the heat the PSS’s did too grip

I went to PS4s at 16000k rears 22000k fronts from the PSS. I’ve been very happy with the Michelins TBH as an all around tyre as work well for me in all conditions. Bought via Black Circles with mobile fitter and 15% off.

I recently switched from Michelin PSS to PZero all round and must say the PZero is a lot quieter than the PSS. I have yet to see what wear this will be. But the new Michelin PS5s are also coming and are now only available in larger inch sizes.

Ori, I’m taking that as autocorrection and you mean wear? If so they’re about on par with the Michelin’s. I need to check them soon, will report back once I have. Only thing to consider in advance is these tyres have done little else but 4 forum runs and the Pyreneesori wrote: ↑Mon May 01, 2023 10:41 amHow you finding the west on the new tyres?Argyll Andy wrote: ↑Sun Apr 30, 2023 10:31 pm Conti 7’s for both price and performance. Some of the LCI cars are coming with Conti 6's fitted. What is the difference between those and Conti 7's.

The 6s will be the manufacturer specific variant I would imagine..
Like many things speed of tyre development means that the 7s probably came out later and missed the window of homologation..
When you wear out your 6s I guess you’ll move to a set of 7s..
We choose to go to on with this endeavour at this time and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard…

Not sure. I mean if the 6’s are star marked then it’s better for use with warranty. Having heard how bmw will try and get out of warranty claims, it makes sense to try and stick to bmw star marked tyres. However, I really want the 7’s next. Purely on what Andy has said about them.

I had P Zeros on a mustang and whilst they grip, they are some of the worst wearing tyres i have had, didnt get the mileage out of them that i hoped. My dad also had similar experience with P zeros on his jag XF.
I will likely be switching to continental extreme contacts when i change, i had those on my z/28 and they were superb.

I had PZero's on both my Cayman's. Reasonable all round tyre with the exception of longevity. The rears only lasted 8K. No track days and pretty easy with the loud pedal most of the time.AER86 wrote: ↑Tue May 02, 2023 1:38 pm I had P Zeros on a mustang and whilst they grip, they are some of the worst wearing tyres i have had, didnt get the mileage out of them that i hoped. Thanks for all the info guys and gals! Very helpful. In summary it seems most are happy with the Mitchelin’s and the Conti’s are maybe a slightly better alternative and Pirelli’s worse on wear
PS5 is out now on my local garage page for the same price exactly at replacement PSS.
PSS and PS4 are literally £2 different with the PS4S at £45 more each
They only have Conti SC5P and they’re £50 less each than the PSS/PS5
Not sure if they’re a bit less premium or not.
