G29 or F type?

Assuming my plans work out this year I might have a bit of a splurge. I'll be keeping the 35is but I might buy something in addition to keep my interest up. So, as it says G29 or Jag F type? I prefer the looks of the F which easily sways me. Opinions? Both 35is and new car will be weekend indulgences. 😁

F-Type (I know, sacrilege on a Zed forum), but it feels, sounds and looks better than the G29 IMO. This is because they are really two very different cars. The G29 is more of a cruiser/grand tourer whereas the F-Type is more of a super sports car with a hint of grand tourer. It will come down to what type you are after.

Better hurry up as F type end of production is very soon if you are buying new.

As you have a 35is / Z4 already, it has to be the F type. Though surly, if it a collectable piece of fun your looking for, then a Z4 Alpina or ///M is the way to go. For less money at the moment.

Strangely enough, I went with a pal yesterday to view a V6S F Type he is interested in and as much as I like the G29, I would definitely go for the Jag.

Just the build quality is so poor, I had a look at one when my son was detailing one from one of his friends, and the state of the fittings :o

Ye I dont know, worth a test drive. I test drove the original 6 cylinder supercharged roaster and it was a hoot but the weight was really noticeable compared to my M it didn't feel anywhere near as engaging its also not that fast 5.5 to 60. The ride is better and the engine and noise is lovely but it is a GT not a sports car no doubt.

Problem with it being a GT is the boot was really small. It would be a struggle to pack for 2 people for a weekend away let alone a euro trip.

The build quality of the interior was really questionable for the price, lots of cheap creeky plastic.

I know slightly different comparison but the E85 boot is actually really big and you can fit a surprisingly large amount in it.

I've always loved the way that the F-Type looks. However...rightly or wrongly I'd be nervous about buying one because of JLR's poor reputation for build quality/reliability though.

A chap in our street as just purchased an orange F type with gloss black alloys and it looks absolutely stunning. Having said that though, Jaguars build quality would put me off buying one and if I was lucky enough to be in the OPs position I’d have a Porsche Cayman instead. Appreciate its not answering the OPs original question.

Stevo1987, bear in mind if you buy the Jaaag then you need to budget extra for an England Rugby shirt, a lightweight jumper to drape around your neck, and elocution lessons so you can say 'Hurrah!' loudly in a suitable Hugh Laurie-esque voice. :D

That’s pretty much why Kathleen says we’ll never get one (minus the England shirt of course :P ) Every time I bring it up she says “No, it’s an old mans car”

My personal opinion of them is boot is tiny for us as we don’t travel light and interior finishing wasn’t great on the couple I did look at, on my own :tumbleweed:

Maybe not but it is a good shout. I did have a Porsche a long time ago so maybe I am due another one. :D

I think I can carry that look without the elocution lessons. :driving:

Cayman or Boxster any day over an F-type, or a G29 (as you've already got a Z4). I've read countless stories on the web regarding how terrible the Jag's build quality and reliability are.
Porkers are pretty depreciation-proof too!
