I just received this from Lotus...

To celebrate 40 years of production at Hethel, Group Lotus are holding an Open Day for the Lotus Enthusiast

Sunday 23rd September 2007
10am – 5pm

Lots to do, see and enjoy – here are but a few: -

All the above is free to ticket holders with the exception of items marked with *

All the above is subject to change by the organisers
Tickets £15.00 per car (max 4 adults per car)
Additional adult tickets £5.00 • All children under 16 years free

Anybody arriving in a Lotus Product can park onsite at Lotus Hethel. All other vehicles to be parked at Norfolk Showground (fully secured and attended) where a free continual bus service is provided. Full parking instructions will accompany your tickets.

That surprises me....
I would have guessed that Lotus has been around longer than 40yrs.
They've made a big impact in that time..

They may well have been around longer, but they've been at Hethel in Norfolk for 40 years.
The company is based about 10 miles (16 km) south of Norwich, in East Anglia and was originally formed as Lotus Engineering Ltd. by the influential engineer Colin Chapman, in 1952. The Company's first factory was in old stables behind the Railway Hotel in Hornsey. Team Lotus was active and competitive in Formula One racing from 1958 to 1994. Since the 1960s the company has occupied a modern factory and road test facility at Hethel, near Wymondham. This site is the former RAF Hethel base and the test track uses sections of the old runway.
