Problem with "New Posts" Button

Post by srhutch » Tue Aug 28, 2007 1:22 pm

I'm guessing it's no just me, but the result from pressing the New Posts button vary wildly from time to time sometimes only showing 2 or 3 posts?

Anybody else suffering the same problem, it's a pain as I find it the easiest way of seeing whats being talked about.

Did you by any chance close the browser in between? That would reset it ...

To be honest on my PC at home it's on the screen 24x7.

Its not so much reset but hitting the button at various times through the day give unexpected results.

ah - but if you don't log out the cookies might not update correctly. I close the site down once finished, and when I re-open the page - the new posts always works perfectly.

Didn't work with z4um. I left and it never came back. maybe we could get a dump of the database once a week and distribute it so that we never have to find another forum again! :D

LOL... try once a day... and it's kept securely in 2 locations, so don't worry, we're not going anywhere :yeah:

But you logged in with the same user id though, so the new posts will be from when you logged in at home ...

Think I can see where you are coming from now regarding the two PC's and guess this is the main problem, not the fact I am leaving the browser open.

I guess one PC collects a cookie with postings up to a certain time therefore when I open on another PC it recognises this and only shows posting after this .

Is my logic correct?
