The U.S. pricing has been released by BMWNA and for the sDrive35i it starts at USD 52.4K. Fully specced with NAV but without the Ivory White package it comes up to over 62K. That translates to over CAD 77K. :o I could get a fully specced E90 M3 (without NAV) for CAD 78K. :headbang: I am looking forward to see the canadian pricing.

Wow. When I bought my coupe, I have about everything except nav and it spec'd at $49K. You could get in an M for $52.

Makes me more determined to keep mine for a LONG time.

WOW! That's a lot of money. I can't see spending that much.

Ridiculous... especially for a car that's not a better performer than the previous.

Seriously, for that price I could easily have 2 lightly used E85/E86 Ms. Probably would go that direction too... a roadie M + a coupé M. 8)

I do agree, however, that the pricing matches the rest of the car's character... bloated.

Just wait till the end of August or beginning of September when BMWNA starts giving out $12K ~$15k discounts on these cars. 8)

Pricing in the UK isn't too bad, slightly undercuts the SLK and well under Boxster.

GP20, do you see yourself in an s35i?

Supposedly BMW has learned from the past and won't be stocking many cars at dealerships, so there won't be a surplus to be unloaded at year-end with huge discounts. Most people will have to order the new Z4 and wait for it to be built.

I read somewhere that BMW has given up on its policy of trying to 'buy' its way into the American market with steep discounts and incentives. Of course, looking on the bright side, this will probably help hold up the resale value on our 'classic' models :)

True, but BMW probably didn't expect the world's economy to be where it's at today when they were already deep into designing and developing the E89. If they had trouble moving the E85/E86 at $40k~$50k, it won't be easier for them to sell the E89 at +$50k to $60k. It'll come down to not selling the Z4's much at all versus selling them at a huge discount to recoup the R&D and production costs. It's almost like how Microsoft continues to sell the Xbox 360 consoles at a loss of profit because they know they can make more money from selling the games and game-rights. Even if BMW sells the E89 at huge discounts they'll still end up ahead from servicings and parts.

Only if it loses 250lbs and if the face-lifted model gets rid of the unnecessary front bumper contours and busy hood/bonnet lines. Even so it'll be a "maybe" for me.

At the moment my next sports car will be a Porsche 911S or above (997 or whichever's the newest model at that time). I'm more likely to get into an E86 M-coupe before I get an E89.

At that price there won't be a new Z in my drive way for a very long time, and should I have to buy another, it will be a loved and used one!
