Hi All,

Got a p13c0 error code and limp mode this evening for the first time ( it was only in for a service/36k vehicle check this morning ! ). Looks like the inlet Vanos valve.... So a 10mm bolt and simple replace ..... But any idea where it's located on the E89 2.0 ?

( I've cleared the code and been for a couple of drives and all seems fine now ! ). Should I be worried about my commute tomorrow ?

Hope someone can help.

Thanks

Hi, it's on the front of the engine & looks like the uppermost of the two solonoids (page 62)

Thanks, That picture is the N55 engine ( text underneath the diagram ), when I looked, I couldn't find them on the N20. Have you seen them first hand ? ( I'll take another look in the light )

That's strange, I've gone to page 62 & it says "n20 engine"? The txt under the diagram also says n20 engine.

Smartbear is correct from what I can see. The text says it’s the same as the N55.

I still can't find the vanos solenoids 🤔 ( I can see the actuators - black circles ). Pic below of the 2.0 E89 if that helps prompt anyone. I also cant find any Vanos solenoids for the 2.0 E89 Z4 listed on eBay or other spares sites ( only the E85 2.0 or 6 cylinder z4s )

Any help appreciated. ( Maybe I'm blind ! )

Hi, it's page 63 not 62 & the solonoids look to be installed within the vanos units themselves.

Thanks. Is a Vanos Actuator Solenoid the same as a Vanos Solenoid though ..... ( this is all new to me )

The Vanos Solenoid looks very different to the Actuator ...

No obvious holes for oil to go through ......

I am no expert on this engine, looking at your image I would say the bottom connector with the green paint is connected to the solenoid .Same for inlet and exhaust.

Thanks all.

It looks like a redesign of the Vanos system on the N20. It's now called a centre valve ( no 10 in the diagram ) and sits behind the Actuator ( no 11 in the diagram ) - Thanks for people's help.
