I have a handover date of 21 August, it’s seemed like a long time coming, just short of 3 months altogether.

I appreciate it feels like it's been a long time coming, but if you can, is it worth waiting a little longer to have it registered as a 73 plate. Even if you are going to put a private plate on your car it will have an impact come resale time.

Yes, thought of that, but my private plate is going on to it straight away and I just want to get my hands on it! I may reconsider over the next few days however  :D

Is that still the case? I remember the days in the late 80s where you had a 1988 F reg or a 1989 F reg, it made a massive difference in the Glasses guide. I don't really pay a lot of attention now and just see it as a "August 2023 car" rather than reg related.

When it comes to sell the car the dvla standard plates will go onto the car - thus a as “73” plate will probably make a few£’s difference.

Even if the value doesn’t change much , there will be a bigger audience.

So I bought a 35is with all the toys to play with.

I was reliably informed by a dealer, who specialises in retailing prestige vehicles, that it does have an impact on residuals.

You will also save a months ved - at a new car rate that is another saving for keeping your powder dry for a few days longer!

Ok, it was just that I never really read about it so much anymore compared to the old days where an old reg literally dropped the value off a cliff if you had an "old" one.

Be patient young man!

Although there is a quotation:-

Patience is a virtue, Possess it if you can, Seldom found in woman, Never found in man.

I’m older than you Ron, may I remind you! But only just :D

At my age, I have to factor in the possibility that I won’t see what happens to my new car when it comes to parting with it! So I want to enjoy it as long as I can

Im of the same opinion re the who will get the car next!

My car was bought by me Sept 2016 and has 17k on the odometer - am I too old for another new one ?

During my last stay in hospital I contacted a fellow forum subscriber to ready a for sale post!

This year due to some family commitments and medical matters , it hasn’t even had its annual Germany trip!

The saving on VED is not as good when considering that the refund on VED for my existing car will be one month less by waiting for the next month, net result is maybe £20 or so.

Similarly, I can’t see that the effect on resale value will all that much in relation to the cost of the car.

Still thinking about it though……. :)

£20 for the extra nine days of new car joy - worth ever penny!

My car came to me late September (26th) due tö a dealership cock up - I was well compensated but it was a wrench when I sorned it in October!

wow, 3 months. long long time not sure hope you've coped for such a great car. I waited approx 378 days so understand your pain.

The shortest time I've waited for any new car has been 5 months.
