I hope you can keep your MR after all the time and effort you have put into getting it so fantastic.

If you can afford the Porsche and want one just get it! Especially given what you have been through. I only regret things I didn't do, never things I did!

It looks stunning in Ruby Star.

Each to their own and all that, but for the same money you can get a 'proper' Porsche.

If part of the reason for buying is as an 'advertising tool', then why have Lidl when you can have Harrods?

Never got the Cayman appeal TBH. Well maybe when they were significantly cheaper than a 911, but not anymore.
A Cayman is a 'poor man's 911' IMO. Just now they are bloody expensive.

If I came to your workplace as a customer and saw a Cayman (whatever flavour), I would think "shame he can't afford a 911". My opinion.

I have been looking at the 991 Turbo recently. I am old enough to still remember when a Porsche 911 Turbo was the pinnacle of sportscars. :)

Hi Byron, you may have seen my story on here… it puts me very much in the go for it, life is too short camp. Similarly having followed your journey on here I hope you feel the same and decide to take the plunge. I’m all for it, although I’m not sure about the “pink” one….

Mark, the guy in the YouTube link below is a friend of mine, as you can see from the timeline he’s had a GT4 RS for about a year, so if you want any advice or have any questions I can ask him, or put you in touch with him. Also you’ll note he’s sponsored by a specialist car financing company, which may give you another option.. disclaimer… I know nothing about them.

Not for me to say anything about Marks personal life or state of health, but I will say he raises a hell of lot of money for cancer charities, so will have empathy etc. if you need any help or guidance.

Mid engine and pretty much 50/50 weight distribution makes the Cayman a fantastic "proper" Porsche product. They call the 911 a widow maker for a very good reason IMHO.

A fantastic car the GT4RS obviously, one thing I would say is they are supposed to be extremely loud. I wonder whether that could get annoying after the honeymoon period has worn off. If not, then go for it!

When I bought my 718 I got a half day experience at the Porsche experience centre at Silverstone. Among other things they have two, small tight tracks. I spent most of the afternoon passing 911's on those tracks.

My thinking exactly, drive these things while you can and hopefully in years to come nice examples will be fetching a premium as everyone realised their mistake jumping on the electric bandwagon.

Tim.

FWIW ..just do it…unless you believe in the Tao theory of reincarnation you only have one life on this earth..

Thinking ‘I wonder if?’ towards the end of your life is far far worse than knowing what you did and how it worked out..

Don’t ever think you have to justify your decisions especially when it comes to toys..

Make it so !

I don't think that you are the kind of guy who buys a car and is thinking about getting something that will be a good seller. You have a stand-out business and you want a stand-out car. I am really pleased that you are excited about this and your mind will be in turmoil for a while, then you will make the decision. Go for it and enjoy it. Remember, you deserve it. Just in case you forgot what it looked like.
BM always good to see you comment and YEAHHH that pic just says it all, i really like the way you put this, i totally agree!

someone mentioned the spyder RS - this isn't an option simply , i cant afford 225k a car. ideally £150k is the limit.

Pondrew - the GT3 is just HUGE its grown into a LARGE car and for me the cayman is the sweet spot, i have to be honest im not fussed if its viewed as a poor mans 911 as im doing this one for me and the people in the know, will know what a 4RS is.... To me the GT4 RS is much more special and likely the ONLY modern RS product i will be able to afford in a much better mid engined driving package but still have the GT3 engine. Admittedly the GT4 RS simply doesn't look as good and well proportioned as a gt3, its a special and cool looking thing but is almost a lil OTT and somehow a touch unclassy, but i like the ridiculousness of it.

i got a REALLY helpful PM - he adds he feels i should keep and add to fleet if possible as the 4RS isn't a replacement more of an addition, my timeline is roughly the next 0-12 months, if i go towards the latter of that timeline i will more than likely be able to keep the z4m as well which is a completely different car so would mean a nice little diverse collection. Z4M Roadster - Clubsport build, GT4 RS coupe, Lotus engined Metro GTI - RETRO , and the Two dailies i run ( works Van is my everyday transport my old low mile mk1 tranny connect which is probably my fave out of them all and is just so comfy and useable      )

Re colour to get the right spec, car and VAT qualifying one i may need to accept pretty much anything that comes up as long as the spec box are ticked and its not a NO NO colour which for me is red, white, bright green, bright orange.... anything else i will consider to get the right deal. Next up i think i need to spend some GOOD seat time in one. But i'm pretty set on this road now i think.

Dealer Thinks this car will be worth 250k in a decade, whats peoples thoughts? id NEVER buy a car to be a collectors item but the idea of it being a increasing in value asset does seem rather satisfying.

did mention this to the dealer as the noise my z4m makes its absolutely annoying as hell now, it sounds incredible but i'm OVER super loud, i found this video rather interesting and wondered are the values dropping as people are finding these things useless on the road ??

Yeah its pretty exciting, i will keep this thread updated over the coming months as it will be nice to see it go full circle and actually get A car. nd who knows will if the timeline runs on a bit, actually get to keep the z4mr and add the gt4 RS to the fleet...... Nothing is off the table right now.
