Re: The New Z4........is it just me? (UPDATED)
The new Z4 is "prettier", more "elegant", more "refined", more Z8-ish than the old Z4.
It is less "go to the track", and more "go to the salon".
I can't argue against the "pretty" factor, as I've seen it and sat in it, and it's definitely "prettier".
But it's not the same.

Re: The New Z4........is it just me? (UPDATED)
I like the new Z4, especially the front headlight, front air dam and rear light. The interior is much better than current Z4. The folding hard top is really good. I love to have one in Deep Sea Blue.

Re: The New Z4........is it just me? (UPDATED)
I currently own a 6 series so am perhaps biased but I definately prefer the looks of the new car. It's altogther more coherent. I understand the views on it looking less aggressive, the angular lines that caused exactly the same comments when the current car was launched do make it look a little "cross".

Re: The New Z4........is it just me? (UPDATED)
I can't say it does anything for me either. Nothing like when I saw the current Z4 in concept form, when I was fighting my urge to put a deposit on a new one!
It doesn't seem to have the same flow of lines; this might be because of all the black rubber seals which might not be so prominent in a dark colour. There is a lot of bodywork above the wheel arches too which does little add to the sports look.
Looks more Merc-esque than BMW to me. All IMHO of course - I clearly have rose tinted coupe windows.

I agree more Z 8 ish, not necessarily a bad thing. Priced like a used Z8 too.

Maybe they should have called it a Z6?

Re: The New Z4........is it just me? (UPDATED)
I saw one in person, sat in it, own a 2006 M roadster, and in my opinion, the new car is car superior in looks, fit and finish. I haven't driven one yet, but the reviews I have read would lead me to believe it will meet my needs in that department too.

Re: The New Z4........is it just me? (UPDATED)
like most people I will reserve judgement until I see it in the flesh, but when I first saw the detailed the pictures the wife said to me 'you don't like it do you' without me saying anything.
It's not all bad though I do quite the interior , it's just the exterior is nothing special.

Re: The New Z4........is it just me? (UPDATED)
It's really starting to appeal to me, especially the new pics with 19" alloys
But then I have an SLK, and this is probably right up my street. An SLK made by BMW

Re: The New Z4........is it just me? (UPDATED)
I would have agree'd. I've not been exactly blown away by the exterior styling but then i saw it in grey and it looks so much better! I'd now consider one (... second hand tho as way too much for me new...)
see what i mean below...looks awsome???
although now i look at it closely, it could be slightly edited?

if so I still think it looks great in grey:

Re: The New Z4........is it just me? (UPDATED)
I managed to find a Z4 tucked away in a dealers parking lot the other day, they were prepping it for the release date.
Gotta say it looks prettier. The front and back end looks meaner.
The slightly bigger ass looks quite good in my opinion, more like a muscle car, than the previous z4 butt. Interior looks more refined ..etc. . rest would probably be repeating what others have said, but yes IMHO this car is more refined and better looking. And I loved the previous Z4, even though some parts were a mixed bag,
Will have to wait for the test drive to judge on all the other characteristics.

Re: The New Z4........is it just me? (UPDATED)
Think that is a late (and very accurate) magazine image, i.e. just before it was unveiled. The real one doesn't have indicators in the wing mirrors - and its lower than the real one too - but good enough to make a judgement.TOM14S wrote:I would have agree'd. Re: The New Z4........is it just me? (UPDATED)
I wanted a sports car, not a GT/sports car hybrid, and I wanted a nice boldly styled car, not an 'appeal to everyone' car.
Z4 it was, by miles.
The new one doesn't appeal to me at all unfortunately
I'd be after a contemporary Boxster S instead if I were buying a car at that price range

Re: The New Z4........is it just me? (UPDATED)
Totally agree. The new Z4 just blends in too much, yet another similar looking car with no design features to really make it stand out.Mr Whippy wrote:I wanted a sports car, not a GT/sports car hybrid, and I wanted a nice boldly styled car, not an 'appeal to everyone' car.
Chris Bangle should be applauded for his work in styling our Z4s
