Hi All,
I am looking at buying a Z4 for some fun before my wife gives birth, however I am really struggling for reasonable insurance. This would be a weekend car for me as I have a 'normal' car for weekdays. I am able to get classic insurance for a 2000 or older Z3 for £210, but because the 4 is not 10 years old it doesn't qualify.
Does anyone know of an insurer / broker who would class an '03 or '04 Z4 as a cherished car on a mileage restricted policy and give a reasonable quote ? Some of the so-called specialists have quoted silly prices - the worst was £3400
Tried the usual suspects of Compare the Market, Money Supermarket, Admiral etc. However, they would class it as a normal car and I don't have a second set of No Claims Bonus.
About me - 40 years old, driving since 17, no convictions / accidents. Only claim I have ever made was for a stolen car back in 1997. Bad bits - my postcode is SK3 (Stockport).
Thanks,
Paul
Edit - The Z3 is a bit too small for me - my head touches the roof lining in the 3, and the legroom is just not quite enough to be comfortable.

Re: Z4 Insurance as a second car
give classic line a ring, when I tried them last year they quoted £487 for my 2.5si sport starting with no no claims.
Going to insure my M with them when I pick it up. Price £387
You won't be covered for driving to work though and you cannot add this to the policy.

Re: Z4 Insurance as a second car
Classic Line quoted me £390 including UK breakdown cover with 5000 miles limit. Although they don't apply no claims to the policy, they do count claim free years and allow it to build up as a second set of NCD.
So very tempted now.
Just off to the For Sale forum.....

Try admiral multi-car, after a few minutes of debate the supervisor gave me 5 years no claims on my second car, and the three cars on the combined policy now don't cost much more than the two we already had
Blue Z4C now long gone, as is it's replacement, and the Red Zed's gone too.. now piloting a rather tasty Carmine flat6

Re: Z4 Insurance as a second car
Thanks to this thread I've gone with Classic Line today for £380 on 5k miles. With the money I've saved from leaving Admiral Multicar I've booked a track day at Silverstone in Feb and have enough left for a tank of V-Power. Happy Days!
