How to easily get the shine

Post by r2uzenblot » Mon May 27, 2024 10:19 am

I have a G29 that I had ceramic coated when new and one year on the paintwork is in immaculate condition. However as hard as I try I just can't get it (Portimao Blue) to showroom shine. I have tried so many common and readily available polishes and gloss enhancers, mainly from Halfords, but am I missing something or not tried something I should.

Or is it something with the ceramic coating that is stopping that showroom shine?

With ceramic coated paint i've always found decent quick detailers give a great shine + touch .
Used P&S beadmaker with decent result , current favourite though is Carpro Elixir https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/256049895552 ... E1EALw_wcB

What do you mean by showroom shine?

Showrooms, and detailing studios, have very bright lights that really enhance how a car’s paintwork looks.

The coating may be clogged and something like CarPro reset could work for you, does the car live outside?

Generally speaking, you shouldn’t be needing to apply anything on top of a pro quality ceramic coat.

Speak to the detailer that applied the coating and ask them for guidance

Yes the car lives outside. I think a chat with my ceramic coater is a good idea. I have faith his capabilities and wonder if there is a winter coating that has settled on the car that needs removing....

Probably just needs a good deep clean with an appropriate ceramic coat specific wash. I use CarPro reset, but that’s on cars coated with CarPro ceramic (UK 3.0) - your detailer should be able to recommend a wash product for their coating
