And after cleaning the motor out.... still the red light, the bong and 'roof movement impaired'.

Anybody know a roof person near Southampton?

So, in case anybody has any thoughts.... cos I don't, lol, this is what happens when I try to open the roof.

Press button, red light and bong, message on idrive 'roof movement impaired'.

Nothing attempts to move, not the windows, not the roof.

Could it be the much talked about salmon relays?

Unlikely to be the relays as when they fail they stick and the pump motor just keeps running until it burns out, it’s more likely to be a micro switch or hall sensor that’s failed or possibly a broken wire where they bend around the roof pivot points. Have you scanned the car again after putting it all back together?

So the roof won't move due to the fatal error in the pump sensor..the other code appears to be more climate control related
We choose to go to on with this endeavour at this time and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard…

But what is interesting though, if I move the car, it'll most likely work. Strange.

Its a very very quirky system with many undocumented 'features'...mine won't open on the fobs now but opens on the buttons..no errors..no logic..go figure..the CTM module that controls it is not very bright..so error diagnostics are poor..substitution is often the key strategy..

If that is the case, then chances are you have a damaged, but not broken, wire somewhere. Making a circuit sometimes but not always.
All good things come to those who wait. I'm really impatient which explains a lot.

F31 320i. Good car.
E89 20i Now fully dried
Z3 'free litre'. Project and a half. Complicated!
Mazda3 sold
Tatty old R56 Mini Cooper. Money pit!

Even though it worked fine before it sat up over winter? I'm not fortunate enough to have a garage so it lives outside, lol. I kind of feel it's damp, corrosion related.

I'd be ecstatic to be wrong, though, lol.
