An apology

Post by enuff_zed » Thu May 09, 2024 7:00 am

I didn’t say finger pointing. What I said was that if someone new wanted to buy a car I’d advertised, then read the related posts they would start to see all these issues and assume I’d sold a dud.

Ah forget it!

Martin, I think it's more your ego that's taken a bashing here than your confidence. You pride yourself, rightly so, on the quality of your work and it's obvious to us all that you work on these cars for love, not profit.
It's a numbers game mate, even a certain amount of brand new cars rolling off the production line have faults showing up a few weeks later, so with the amount of cars you work on, it was bound to happen.

Keep selling here, the buyer isn't complaining or throwing any blame your way. This thread, coupled with all your other threads giving help and selling cars you've put back into good condition, is great provenance for future buyers.

Hope the head is not too bad this morning.

Must have been via PM then as did not find anything either.

On my very first outing with my Z I had a flat, just meant I had to replace the tyres way sooner than I planned and bought new wheels instead as well. Part of the expected unexpected costs of an old car (not to mention the 2.2k bill for the hand brake failure a week later).

Never tried one tbh. Bit more electrickery to confuse me, but I'm sure the basic mechanics underneath are much the same.
Once they get cheap enough I may pick one up to learn on.

Martin, never let this type of stuff worry you, for me if I was buying any car I would check the tyres, if they were bald and it worries me I wouldn't take the car.

Rad can go at any point - just keeping help everyone and doing up the old cars to sell on.

Roof - how often people come on here with roof has an issue, must be 4 or 5 a month now the weathers better, it happens and it no ones fault cars are 20 years old now.

Its has already been said, people buy £3k bangers and expect the thing to be perfect for the next 6 years, that is not realistic and people that expect that are crazy.

I would buy off you any time (when your doing e89).

I am sure you don't sell cars with know faults but always try to document what may need doing so there is proof of what you know before it goes so no one can comeback with this happened, that happened.

Many thanks. Think I was just having a down day.

It seems the roof was a one off as now appears to be working ok?
Had replacement parts and fitted in the boot, so my initial thought was maybe a connector knocked off.
