Good work mate. Try not to let sad people get you down. Just enjoy your car. 👍

Glad to see some positive outcome. Agree £40 is a paltry amount but she sounds like the type of person who would have just denied everything and drove off if you had pushed it.

You have used Menzerna to polish it out. Will be looking at giving my girl a machine polish to take out the usual light spiders webs that happen before a clay and ceramic polish. Would the stuff you have used do the job

Other recommendations would be helpful

Sadly there are a lot of people out there who just treat their cars like they are thing to get from A to B. They don’t care about their own cars, so makes them not give a shite about other people’s cars. One of my father in laws thought it was okay to scrape someone’s bumper as it was only cosmetic damage. :headbang:
Now, Sterling grey Z4 2.2 with cup holders, stubby aerial and sport seats. Roadsters ‘cause they’re great with the roof down.
Ford Anglia, Red Sprite, a few MG midgets, MGB Roadster and yellow Ford Capri, all gone many years now.

I think any of the main line polishes will work . I used Menzerna as that is what I had to hand . The rule of thumb is you should use a light cut polish first and then work your way up to a heavier cut if it doesn`t get the swirls out . BMW paint is/was classed as a hard paint on earlier BMW`s so I used a heavy cut as I knew some of the scratches were quite bad and then the finer cut . If you haven`t got any polishes I would go for something like Farecla G3 as it is a great all rounder .

It’s actually the other way around. Start with a G3 and work down to a 3M Ultra Fina for example.

If you are knowledgeable about the paint and the product yes but otherwise you should always start with the finest first to see if it will clear the swirls / marks and then if not go heavier and then work your way back down to the finer grade . You don`t want to be taking of clear coat you don`t need too . In my case I went heavy cut straight in as I have the experience with my paint and product to know that the finer cut wouldn`t " cut it " . It is always best to go lighter first the same as with wet sanding and then go harder if needed and then work your way back down to the finer grades afterwards . I did say that I started with heavy first and then finer in the quote below

My neighbour has some Menzerna 2400 medium cut polish to try before I buy.

Will this do the job and worth a try? He says it doesn’t do much of a job on his black Volvo

What pad are you going to use? There are many grades in that as well, so a course pad with medium polish (I have that one as well) will do a lot more agressive polishing than the same polish on a fine polishing pad.

Yellow I would guess is the harder pad and grey the softer but not always the case it depends on brand . You should be able to feel the difference . One will be harder to squeeze between your fingers . There is so much to learn about different pads and polishes . It can get very complicated . If you haven`t done it`s probably worth looking at some you tube videos first .

Cheers, just checked the polisher on the internet and you are right, the grey/ black is the soft one and they class the yellow as medium. Apparently there is a red one which I’d the hardest so will have to look in the bag for that one.

Following your advice and try the softer one first with the medium cut polish then progress to the harder one if necessary. When the weather gets dryer and warmer of course.

Cheers
