I am thinking of getting black grills however I think I will also need to get the other silver bits blacked as well. What are those other bits at the bottom called?

Black grille looks great on black. See below.

But you may need an extra dose of Axe to keep them mad rams off.

We choose to go to on with this endeavour at this time and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard…

Just a thought, has anyone resprayed the chrome trim themselves (grill and number trim).

If so any tips? Does it look good etc? Or am I better buying the parts at about £130-150

I've sprayed the side indicators, which are pretty easy. Doesn't look 100% though, and the grill would (I imagine) be much more difficult to get an even finish on if using just a spray can.

Paint isn't cheap either, and by the time you've bought the sandpaper to prep, base coat, plenty of black gloss (you'll need lots of coats) and clear coat, you've probably not saved that much money - especially if it isn't perfect first time round and you need to do it all again...

If you don't have a dust free area to do the painting in, I wouldn't even bother considering it.

Thanks tiglon. I was thinking similar, also if I am not happy with the finish I would have to buy them anyway

The pair of black grilles I bought on eBay a while back wasn’t too expensive. And had a perfect fit.

The front spoiler thingies, I had them painted at the same time as the roll bars. It wasn’t too expensive either.

The side indicators were more expensive. I bought them from a shop near Chicago. ‘Ind’ something.

I can look all that up if you need details. I can also help you buying and posting stuff from America. (I’ve already helped two folk here.)

In my opinion, you go cheap with these cosmetic mods, and pretty soon your elegant motor looks shite. And I’ve seen that.
