Newbie - 2014 2.0i E89

Post by HodgePodge » Thu Apr 18, 2024 7:12 am

Hi there!

Had my Z4 since June last year, replacing a 2019 Fiesta ST which sadly had to go due to engine issues. Wasn't expecting to enjoy driving the Z4 as much as I do, not the biggest engine but has enough poke for all the motorway driving I'm doing at the moment!

It had only done 27k miles and barely any in the year running up to when I bought it. SatNav and stereo a bit rubbish. Has anyone upgraded theirs and, if so, with what?

Horrible wheels so getting those resprayed black soon to camouflage them a bit - cheaper than new wheels  plus getting any chrome bits redone in black too.

Hi & welcome from a fellow e89 DSB Zedder

If you go to YouTube & type in Z4Mods

BMW Z4 Mods is run by Dave - AnubisZed - he has done everything you will want & more

Dave will be along shortly & is an amazing resource regarding sourcing items

There are a few others with great knowledge as well so once your familiar with the forum head to the e89 section & root round for specific upgrades or start a new thread

Happy modding

Welcome to the Forum. Good advice already offered by Pointed Marlin. Anubis Zed is a great resource. I am one of the lucky ones who has benefited from his knowledge and expertise. As has already been said there are quite a few knowledgeable folk on the Forum who will help if they can. Look forward to seeing more photos of your pride and joy.

We choose to go to on with this endeavour at this time and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard…

Welcome aboard.

That's a lovely colour combination on your Z4.

Your wheels look like they are Style 290 that I like. I ran a set on my 3 Series for a few years as they looked much better than the awful 158s it came with!
Coupes because stunning!
Current - Silver Grey MC, Imola Red heated Nappa & carbon trim. Aeros, H & R Coil-overs, 224s, OE Strut brace, Nav, cup-holders, DSP Hi-Fi, pdc, cruise, MFSW, no CDV! E90 330i daily
Gone - Montego Blue
Gone - Ruby Black

Hi and welcome from another low mileage E89 20i in Blue owner (Estoril though not DSB).

When it comes to wheels, used ones can be surprisingly inexpensive on the 'Bay. Just have to look out for good ones TBH. Although, if they need new tyres that can rack the cost up. If you find some that need a 'refurb', which most do second-hand, it is realistically do-able as a DIY job as long as they are not diamond cut on the faces. Several threads on the forum on how to refurb your own wheels with tyres on. I have done it and it was simple.
All good things come to those who wait. I'm really impatient which explains a lot.

F31 320i. Good car.
E89 20i Now fully dried
Z3 'free litre'. Project and a half. Complicated!
Mazda3 sold
Tatty old R56 Mini Cooper. Money pit!
