Custom cat back exhaust

Post by Squid_01 » Tue Apr 02, 2024 4:29 pm

I’m currently on the hunt for a new soundtrack for my 2006 2.5si. I’ve settled on a custom cat back exhaust system as a happy middle ground between oem and straight pipes. I’ve started the custom search and got a couple quotes between £830-£950  . Has anyone had or searched for one before and can recommend a place to have it done? Is ~870 the going rate? Seems like a lot of doubloons to go a bit louder

(Hope this is posted in the right section this time :?

You are best off with a gravity performance system.
They had a really good deal on last month on eBay. £255 delivered for a cat back system.
Worth checking to see if it’s still on

Thanks for the reply - and then get someone to install it for me?

Seems like a cheaper option, I guess there’s no way to know if it will be a good sound before install though. Has anyone had this model installed in the forums you know of?

Yes there are quite a few people on here with this exhaust.
Maybe worth starting a thread and asking how they find it for noise etc.
mine is still sat in the box

I've had a quote for twin backboxes on my Z4M for £600, or £800 if you want them valved. Where are you based?

Between London and Oxford. I was thinking £800 for a basic cat back was quite steep!?

How come you’ve not used yours? Just not got round to it or second thoughts?

I have one of the gravity systems and for the price I think it's excellent.

Lots more info on them in this thread - viewtopic.php?t=109995&hilit=ebay+exhaust

There's also a place called Richs fabrication shop, just outside Oxford. He quoted me around £500 (from memory) for a custom system and apparently his work is fantastic.

@sqerrnipz that’s super - thanks! Out of interest did you install it yourself? Was there any welding or all screws?

Seems like an eBay kit will be the way to go, lots of positive feedback there :D

I got a local exhaust place to do mine. I’d read about a few people having fitment issues, so left it with them for an hour or so. Returned thinking they’d rant about the fit, but they said it went on with no issues and they were impressed with the quality.

It definitely hangs lower, as I get the odd scrape when I hit a speedbump at the wrong angle or a pinch too fast…
