Ridiculous water under the driver seat 2016 z4

Have you got yours sorted yet portisz4?

Pretty certain mine is coming in though the rear window seal. Does this mean new rubber? If so is this a DIY job (for someone who is simple?)

I put a towel inside the window but today's rain has totally soaked it through. Need to get it sorted asap.

No. I haven't. I can't see anything coming in around the rear window though.
Any ideas... I totally dried it out. It's been sat on the drive for a week albeit in the rain . Ive done about 20 miles wet and dry.

I've just driven it now looked under the driver seat and the car driver side is absolutely flooded again . Something is very wrong. Anyone got any ideas.

Between the storms and a few miles driving the floor is flooded again

I wish I could help but I have only had my Z about 3 months so I am a complete noob.

I assume you have no signs of entry across the window rubbers?

I don't know if I can replace the rubbers myself or not, I am not the most mechanically minded and don't have a garage or drive way to work on. Think I might have to find an independent who can do it for me.

Unless the rubber seals are perished (cracked or split) you don't need to replace them, just sort them out.
Get some silicone-based rubber and vinyl treatment (Gummi Pflege or similar) and give them a good going over. It may help to do them a few times if they are really dry.
The silicone does several things...it softens and expands the rubber as it soaks in. It also cleans any dried gunk on the surface and it is waterproof.

If the seals are perished then replacing them is simple, as long as you have right ones to replace them with. There are channels in the car's body that the seals push into. A thin film of silicone-based hybrid sealant/ adhesive will help install them and stop them from moving once cured.
All good things come to those who wait. I'm really impatient which explains a lot.

Only you can see the car, so you need to find where it's coming in. Difficult in this weather at this time of year, granted, but a dry car, a hose pipe and a helper would be my advice.

What he said, or do you know anyone with a smoke machine (maybe a local DJ :D ). that should be able to help locate (or eliminate) any leaks from the doors or seals.

Ok found the leak. It's coming in through a floor joint and starts pooling when I flood the front end of the car and it's running down the side box sill section and out the back wheel area. Somehow it's getting in at this place I'm pointing to. . Any one got any ideas Image

Very weird…A for perseverance…can’t offer any advice on the matter..at least you know where the problem area is..
We choose to go to on with this endeavour at this time and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard…
A very modified Atacama Yellow 35is

Agreed. Very weird.
OP, where exactly is that? Is it under the driver's seat to the rear? The panels are spot welded, you can see them. Is there any sign of movement of any panel; ie has one become 'unstuck'?

Yes, to the rear under the seat back corner area. Right where that sealant meets the joint. Nothing looks unstuck. Hose pipe around the front engine top area and drain areas on the windscreen cowling. Then it runs down through a drain or sill section and out the back by the wheel.
Somewhere along the way it manages to come up out of that welded section ....
Not sure what's going on but we've sealed underneath the whole area and inside for now to see if it stops.

You have done a great job locating it, that's the most time consuming part.

I can't offer any advice on fixing it as I wouldn't have a clue. However, resealing sounds a good start. Good luck sorting it.

An update to my issue, I had some of the rubber treatment in the glove box (thanks Ken). I couldn't see any damage to the seal so I have cleaned and applied to the area. Will keep an eye on it over the next few days.
