AUX front volume

Post by ClumUK » Sat May 16, 2020 6:45 pm

I was attempting to install a CarPlay box today, however I've run into a blocker in that I can't get any audio output from it :(

The box plugs into the 3.5mm AUX IN port in the armrest so it can send sound to the speakers, but when I go to the External Devices menu in iDrive I'm unable to increase the volume. It says "AUX active" but it's stuck at zero and turning the knob after selecting the item does nothing.

Does anyone know how I can fix this?

It's a 2010 model and according to a VIN checker it has the following spec:

S6FL USB/Audio Interface
S601 TV Function
S698 Area-Code 2 For DVD
S6NF Music Interface For Smartphone
S609 Navigation System Professional
S633 Preparation, Mobile Phone, Business
S6AA BMW TeleServices
S620 Voice Control
S615 Extended BMW Online Information
S694 Provisions For BMW 6 CD Changer
S612 BMW Assist
S7SL Design Pure White
S616 BMW Online
S6AB Control, Teleservices

Hi there. I’m having the same problem. Can you tell me what you did to fix it?

Edit: I figured it out. For anyone else who has this issue in future and finds their way to this thread, you have to remove the optical cable from the original car housing and plug it into the new housing that goes into your stereo. Shown here: https://youtu.be/8uobWgYDI1E
