Feeling wheely good…

Post by B21 » Sun Nov 19, 2023 7:03 pm

Winter comes to the Scottish Borders..

Mass migration to all season and winter tyres for the dailies..the Zed is resting on refurbished 437M in graphite grey with new SC7s..unlikely to be out much over the winter but spring pot holes are a killer ..so forged wheels stand a better chance.

The Apex Arc 8s are off for trueness check and then refurbished in graphite grey with fresh SC7s..

A little left in the old SC7s..3.6mm in 10k old fronts and 2.7mm in 5k rears..but it’s not worth (to me) faffing for 1 or 2 runs.

Plus early spring weather can be wet and 3mm is about it for good water performance…and at 2mm had bad tramlining on the rears…

Please with general wear pattern…with revised geometry ..no uneven wear..

We choose to go to on with this endeavour at this time and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard…

You've surprised me that the back tyres can cause tramlining, do you think would this be the case on E85? Mine are down to 3mm.
Now, Sterling grey Z4 2.2 with cup holders, stubby aerial and sport seats. Roadsters ‘cause they’re great with the roof down.
Ford Anglia, Red Sprite, a few MG midgets, MGB Roadster and yellow Ford Capri, all gone many years now.

Most tramlining is caused by rear tyre / wear / camber / toe settings…

Front related issues cause more of darting / twitching behaviour…

Sometimes you get both…nice
