BMW iPhone Cradle
Greetings from Arizona! Recently purchased an ‘09 Z4 and it came with a cradle for an older style iPhone. I’m looking to see if BMW made or if anyone knows where I can get one that is compatible with the newer iPhone style with the lightening port? Looking to attach my 14 Pro Max to my stereo system. Thanks

That cradle looks aftermarket …
We choose to go to on with this endeavour at this time and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard…

Sorry to say but that cradle isn't for an iPhone, or any other phone for that matter. It's the mount for the Garmin Sat-Nav system (photos attached).
If you have the combined USB/AUX socket in the centre console then you can plug your iPhone into the USB there.
If that doesn't work (very dependent on factory spec) and you do have the USB/AUX then for full control you could buy a Tune2air adaptor that'll bluetooth your music over to the headunit, giving you skip control on the steering wheel buttons.
If you only have an AUX socket then you can use one of the many cheap bluetooth adaptors on the market, powered by the 12v accessory socket, but you won't have any control over song selection.
Hope that helps

When I was looking around at E89s for a while I saw a few of these, wondered what that was all about!

You can still buy the Garmin unit for this, it's the Garmin Nuvi 3490
