Hi All,
Just picked my first Z4.2008 E86, manual box. 78k, 2 previous owners. good history with the car.
Intended mainly as bit of fun on days off work.
Is there anything I should be considering preventative maintenance wise?
There's no indication that transmission/diff oils have been changed nor of the water pump having been replaced.
I'm based in Derbyshire - are there any local clubs for this model?
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Cheers,
M.

Welcome to the forum and manual E86 ownership - a great choice if I may say so!
I had the transmission oil replaced in my 2nd 3.0Si at 82K as I didn't think the BMW "sealed for life" concept was a great idea.
The water pump on my first 3.0Si died at 60K but my second seemed to be on the original pump when I sold it on 91K so how long they last seems to be a bit of a lottery. My E91 325i with the same N52 engine needed a new pump at 135K, but it may have been its 2nd. No idea about my current E90 330i, but I'm retired and have RAC membership!
For a bit of fun on days off I'd probably take a chance on the water pump, but if I was planning a long road trip I'd probably get it replaced for peace of mind knowing it would be unlikely to need doing again during my ownership.
The issue is that when they die the engine overheats in about a mile, which can be inconvenient!
