Car Glass Cleaner
I have tried several different well known brands over the years and always been underwhelmed by the results. I recently invested in some fish scale glass cloths and these have made little difference.
Anyone got any recommendations or tips please.

For the inside I use isopropanol on a paper towel, dampen the cloth outside the car and wipe clean, then with a clean microfibre cloth to wipe off and paper that may have shredded.
Think I paid about £8 for a litre on eBay, use it for all sorts of cleaning and degreasing, has a low flash point so evaporates off very quickly

In the past I have used a cube off a clay bar with a spray bottle solution made up of any car shampoo and water to lubricate the clay when contacting the glass, its brilliant for a deep clean. After that, use any glass cleaner to clean your glass and you should get better results.

That's taken me back to my childhood to when my pop's used wet newspaper to clean his windows. I must admit, they were always immaculate.

White distilled vinegar diluted about 4-1. Apply with microfibre cloth and dry with paper towels. Works a treat and costs pennies.
All good things come to those who wait. I'm really impatient which explains a lot.

It's not the purple stuff that used to get used to obscure the windows while your mam and dad decorated. It's a spray, used it on my bike screen to get the flies off.Special Kay wrote: ↑Fri Jan 14, 2022 8:50 pmThat's taken me back to my childhood to when my pop's used wet newspaper to clean his windows. I second the claybar for the outside.Special Kay wrote: ↑Fri Jan 14, 2022 8:09 pm In the past I have used a cube off a clay bar with a spray bottle solution made up of any car shampoo and water to lubricate the clay when contacting the glass, its brilliant for a deep clean. Just did this on my partner's car last weekend and then a standard glass cleaner then rainx for a couple of months worth of protection.
Some good comments on here for the inside. I think I will try the IPA and paper towel. I can't seem to find a good method for cleaning inside of the windows.

Acetone is even better tbh, although you have to be really careful for dripping onto plastics etc. I stick with the IPA for that reasonmgrlane wrote: ↑Fri Jan 14, 2022 9:15 pmI second the claybar for the outside.Special Kay wrote: ↑Fri Jan 14, 2022 8:09 pm In the past I have used a cube off a clay bar with a spray bottle solution made up of any car shampoo and water to lubricate the clay when contacting the glass, its brilliant for a deep clean. By a mile the best combo I’ve used (and there have been many ) is Wurth Active Foam Glass Cleaner and Sonax Glass Cloths. Perfectly clear glass and absolutely no smears

I use a clay mitt for the outside and after many trials I have settled on Mr Muscle spray glass cleaner.

Ha ha, yea I will stick with the IPA. I am so clumsy I would 100% spill the acetone!Zforbes wrote: ↑Fri Jan 14, 2022 9:22 pmAcetone is even better tbh, although you have to be really careful for dripping onto plastics etc.
