2010 Mac Pro 5,1

REDUCED to £700 interested in offers

I bought this new from Apple in 2010, I have now bought a replacement iMac Pro and this is now surplus to requirement.

The spec is as follows:

• 3.46 6 core W3690 Xeon
• 48gb or ram 3x16gb in a triple channel configuration can take 64gb but in slower dual channel
• Power colour RX 580 8GB Golden Sample - overclock switch
• 250GB Samsung 840 EVO on a Apricorn Velocity Solo X2 PCIE SSD sled
• Inateck 4 Ports PCIe USB 3.0
• Additional 5.25 - 3.5/2.5 adapter has been installed into the second DVD rom slot for additional drives+
• Running Mojave 10.14.6 most up to date and supported version. Can install Catalina with dosdude

Perfect for graphic designers, coders, videographers, photographers.

I replaced it about 18 months ago because the creative suite was struggling to run. Since adobe has rewritten every programme and this machine now absolutely flies which is quite frustrating as i spent over 5k on the new machine plus another £600 on a drive enclosure to fit the drives that came out of this. I tested both my iMac pro and this exporting 50 raw files from lightroom and this took 20 seconds longer :headbang:

The machine has been upgraded from the original 2.8ghz quad core Xeon to a 3.46ghz 6 core W3690 Xeon. This is the fastest CPU that can be put in this machine with a single tray configuration. This was done professionally by an apple certified retailer in 2014, the warranty sticker remains. This cost £1000 back in 2014.

The graphics card has been upgraded to the Power colour RX 580 8GB Golden Sample. It is HDR ready, Freesync, Display Port 1.4 HDR and Display port 1.3 HBR3 ready. Perfect for content creation and to create a bootcamp drive and play games on windows 10.

This card has an overclocking switch on the card itself meaning it doesn't need to be enabled in the bios, runs super quiet and is really powerful. It is a metal based GPU allowing High Sierra and Mojave to be installed.

This was purchased in March 2018 for £385 from Ebuyer. The card is still worth over £200 on it own and currently in the climate its hard to get hold of good performing cards. I will also include the original ATI 5770 that came with the machine.

The machine also has the 250gb Samsung 840 EVO SSD installed on a Apricorn Velocity Solo X2 PCIE 2.0 SSD sled, this allows it to run at the full SATA 3 550mb bandwidth.

Its a dual SATA 3 card so another can be installed off the additional SATA 3 port on the card. These were made specifically for this generation of Mac Pro and were also expensive this card was £189.

The machine also has a Inateck 4 Port PCIe USB 3.0 card which is also specific for the Mac Pro.

All these peripherals are designed specifically for the Mac Pro and work perfectly.

The machine has been used primarily as a photo/video editing machine and as you can see from the interior and ports there is little wear and is in great condition for a 10 year old machine. The outside is also in good condition but does have some scratches and scrapes from pulling it in and out of my desk set up over the years. All is pictured.

The machine is still a powerhouse to this day:

Geekbench 5: Multi - 3582 similar to a mid tier 7600k 2017 iMac
Geekbench GPU - Metal - 48439 which is more powerful than the Vega 48 in the 2019 iMac which is a £500 upgrade.

Blackmagic Disk Speed Test - 478.8mb/s Write and 495.3mb/s Read

The machine has room for 5x3.5” hard drives, 4 in the original bays and there is also a 5.25 - 3.5/2.5” adapter installed in the DVD drive bay. I ran this machine with 4 8TB drives, a 1TB SSD as a scratch and 250gb for the boot drive.

I do not have the original box, it does come with the original Apple power cord.

The machine will come with a fresh install of Mojave. It has been thoroughly cleaned and ready for the new owner.

The machine is heavy but I am willing to deliver within a 10 mile radius. The machine is located near the Trafford centre Manchester and pick up can also be arranged. I would prefer not to post it will be expensive and the feet are prone to damage because of the weight. Roughly 50kg.

Any questions feel free to ask.

This is advertised elsewhere so i reserve the right to remove.
