Off to Spain with my E89
So my roadsterbags are packed, all the bits and pieces sorted and tomorrow off we go to Spain (2 cars) my canine companion Rey in the passenger seat.
First time in my Zed but been many times in my MGF roof down of course.
After looking on the forums I’ve deduced I don’t need to do anything re adjusting lights - just switch lights off from auto.
I’ve got my hiviz vests, first aid kit, breathalyser, and lamp kit (bit hard finding the right one for the Z4). I have a small toolkit, compressor, but don’t have any gunk cans ...
I also use the Sanef Tags for the French toll motorways - so much better when the ticket machine is on the “wrong side”! I assume it will work fine in the Zed as it did in the MGF.
Looking forward to the drive.
Cheers

If you are driving to France and Spain, you might be better off with Area:
https://www.area-enligne.com/Area/accue ... ge=ACCUEIL
All prices appear to be lower than Sanef.

Take plenty of sunscreen. No doubt you have seen the temperatures in Spain on the news programmes. The Roadster bags fit a treat. We used ours a couple of weeks ago in the Cotswolds. It is surprising how much you can fit into them. Have lovely time.

Well a quick 2 day drive down and we made it - not many photos of the trip down as it was quite functional but will try and take a few as we visit here and there. The didn’t miss a bit - I loved having the “spare” power to do a quick overtake as and when needed it was a joy to drive. My dog Rey was comfortable too! Roof down almost all the trip except for the Bayonne area as it was bucketing down - a quick detour into an Aire, 14 looong seconds for the roof to go up and off we go again

I bet Rey enjoyed the trip. I'd take our two lads but with two up and two lively terriers, it might be a bit of a challenge!

ProfCJJ, For me it would be my Jack Russell or the wife (one car)
If you have a route I'd appreciate it, I really want to plan a trip... might have to wait for good weather again now.

I’ll give more details re route when I’m back - it was quite functional through France - to get us to Spain quickest - we’ve done it lots.
Busy driving, using the pool, eating the food and walking the dogs
I took my dash cam to get some footage of the drive down and found that the camera developed a side to side wobble - after a quick google I find it’s not uncommon it’s fixed now but lots of the footage has a wobble depending on the road.
Also found that with parking mode and the battery saver I get about two hours of coverage after I switch the car off before the battery saver powers down the camera - not bad - but I’ll probably put a battery backup in to extend that.
Got some wonderful footage of two young kids pedalling by when car was parked. They then stop takes photos with their phone and pose for selfies!
Overall I did not appreciate just how much of a head turner the car is - as you drive along the towns and villages you see heads turn
I hope to do a bit of a side trip for some photos this week but as we are with family family commitments get in the way (plus I have a quick work trip to Singapore to contend with this weekend!)
Overall very pleased with the car generally, performance, mileage (around 36 mpg even with spirited driving) and as I gave it a good polish and wax in the uk I still have beading when it rained!!
More later some random photos for now (sorry for rotated pics can’t seem to sort on my phone )

Went for a short drive to the Sierras north of Madrid (Miraflores de la Sierra) great driving roads - stopped to take in the view (and a few photos).
