Are these mods worth anything on car resale?

Post by Flycaster » Mon Aug 27, 2007 11:51 am

If I were to sell my 2005 Z4 2.5, step, 10K miles, perfect condition inside and out, would the following mods add anything to its resale value? If so, how much?

BMW alarm system, including motion sensor
Icelink
BMW rearview mirror: auto-dim, UGDO

Or, should I remove them?

Icelink is ont any good if you have an ipod, the other two might not add value, but may just make it easier to sell. IMO

It would help selling the vehicle. I doubt it would increase value though. Remove the icelink.

Flycaster, are you thinking on getting rid of your Z4?

i'm sure if you removed them you would get the same amount of money for your car. If there easy to remove i would and replace with stock parts and sale them. if not dont bother, i always say mods are for the current owners satisfaction the next owner may not desire the same modifications. :driving:

Not really, Ducks. The big trunk money BMW is giving ($5500), caused me to calculate what a 2007 Z4 3.0i would cost me. With what I would want, before taxes, I figured a little less than $35K. Figured out the invoice with extras, subtracted $5500 from invoice, and would give the stealership back around $500-700 from the $5500 for topping profit (they also get profit from things we don't even know about). If they didn't take it, I'd walk...as I originally planned to keep t he car at least 4-8 years. Nice to dream about these things. Oh yeah, one of the things I don't like about the newer BMWs is that you can no longer do the oil change via dipstick extraction.
