Supposedly BMW has learned from the past and won't be stocking many cars at dealerships, so there won't be a surplus to be unloaded at year-end with huge discounts. Most people will have to order the new Z4 and wait for it to be built.GP20 wrote:Just wait till the end of August or beginning of September when BMWNA starts giving out $12K ~$15k discounts on these cars.
I read somewhere that BMW has given up on its policy of trying to 'buy' its way into the American market with steep discounts and incentives. Of course, looking on the bright side, this will probably help hold up the resale value on our 'classic' modelsepbrown wrote:Supposedly BMW has learned from the past and won't be stocking many cars at dealerships, so there won't be a surplus to be unloaded at year-end with huge discounts. True, but BMW probably didn't expect the world's economy to be where it's at today when they were already deep into designing and developing the E89. If they had trouble moving the E85/E86 at $40k~$50k, it won't be easier for them to sell the E89 at +$50k to $60k. It'll come down to not selling the Z4's much at all versus selling them at a huge discount to recoup the R&D and production costs. It's almost like how Microsoft continues to sell the Xbox 360 consoles at a loss of profit because they know they can make more money from selling the games and game-rights. Even if BMW sells the E89 at huge discounts they'll still end up ahead from servicings and parts.epbrown wrote:Supposedly BMW has learned from the past and won't be stocking many cars at dealerships, so there won't be a surplus to be unloaded at year-end with huge discounts. Only if it loses 250lbs and if the face-lifted model gets rid of the unnecessary front bumper contours and busy hood/bonnet lines. Even so it'll be a "maybe" for me.Wondermike wrote:Pricing in the UK isn't too bad, slightly undercuts the SLK and well under Boxster.
GP20, do you see yourself in an s35i?
