A common entry point is the brake light on the boot - check if any cracks.
Also, are you 100% sure the drain plugs are clear? If the plastic wells get full they can overflow into the boot / seat area.

How ironic, I've had a similar issue and just posed on the E85 / E86 discussion area (this is where this thread should be too!) Don't worry we'll let you off if you give us a pic or two and an intro?
I found this thread. Helped me, so may be of some use to you as well. Good luck fella.

Does anyone know how to stop water leaks into boot 2004 z4
Hi guys
Thanks for the replies regarding the leak we have in the boot of our Z4.
I’ve had the car into a garage and they replaced the Centre brake light in the boot as that was cracked, had water getting into the battery box but that now seems cured.
Water is now coming into the near side area of the boot in heavy rain, I’ve bought a cover until we can get to the bottom of this problem.
I’ll look at the screws on the back lights and see if they need tightening up.
Any other suggestions or if anyone knows of a specialist in Lancashire then please let me know.
Thanks

Thanks SRHutch
I’ll try and find the drainage points under the car and see if they are clear.
Cheers

Sorry if I’m in the wrong area, I’m new to these forums and it’s still a learning curve to me.

There's a vent. One on each side near the lights in the boot that are a common leakage point. Worth checking these as well.

I am a newbie to the forum and would like to thank all of you who have replied.
I posted a picture of the car which we bought in 2005 when it was a year old.
It is my wife’s pride and joy but for me at 6ft 2in not the best.
It has been a great Car and once we get this water leak sorted I think we may treat it to a new black hood.
Thanks again

Hi SRHUTCH
Not yet, the car is covered over at present and I’ve not had the time this weekend to look at it.
Got loads of work going on at home so not had the chance yet.
I’ll let the forum know when I do.
Thanks
