Moving to CSLs (reps...)

Post by samZ4M » Mon Jul 17, 2017 4:02 pm

I need to replace my rear tyres, fronts to follow soon. So thinking now is the best time to swap out to CSL's, something I've wanted on the car for the last 2 M's I've had.

All 4 of my current wheels will need a refurb, seem to be bubbling near the value, and the fronts probably have 3mm left on them. So I'd ebay these and put it towards the CSL reps. A few questions I have...
  • Seems the reps are £550 (delivered) at CMWheels, tyres running about £800 fitted. What do you think I'd get back for my 224's?
  • Hyper silver or silver, for a black M?
  • Best tyre size? I've seen topics, but no one seems to agree. 235/35/19 & 265/30/19 seems to be standard though.
  • Are CMWheels the best reps? Or are they all poor?

I made the switch to CSL genuine reps  and got them from CMWheels. A tip off from a Forum friend told me to mention that I was a Forum member which got me a decent discount.
Any of the silvers you mention will look great on your black ///M. Tyre choice for me are the same as you mentioned based on asking around and no other reason. Your 224s are still a great wheel and I still have mine and you could get £400 for them i think even though they need a refurb.

Hyper silver would be my choice....but what tyres are you going with for just £350 for 4...? I think you'll need to factor £500+ for a decent set of 19 tyres.

Interesting if they offer some discount. I'm after CSL reps myself. Do they also supply tyres?
Sorry to but in 😉👍

I don't think they do tyre and wheel packages but you can always check CMWheels website

To clarify, it was £800 for the tyres fitted only, then the £550 for the wheels. Only going Pilot 4 or 4S. I've had rear springs done too, so hunter alignment at the same time.

I think hyper would look good too.

Maybe see how many people want CSL's, see if we can get a discount?! Could start a thread. I'm going to call in a bit anyway, and I'll ask if we'd get discount for several purchases.

I spoke with CMWheels, forum price is £500 delivered. Due to the already generous discount, group buys are not possible. He does not do tyres.

He said hyper black would be good on my Black M, I'm not too sure. what'd you go with? I've never liked black wheels on cars, so thinking hyper silver as it's a 2 tone effect.

I've just put CSL's on mine although they are a genuine set and I believe they are similar to hyper silver? Before I collected them I had intended to have them done in OEM silver however now they are on the car I think they suit a dark Zed a treat so I'm keeping the colour :D

This thread is a direct result of your pictures, I think it's only fair you pay 20%! Looks lovely. I recall Marc's photos of his, and they are silver, but a bit too much for my liking. Hyper it is...

Looking at tyres, 265/35/19 is bloody expensive (due to Porsche fitment?) is 255/35/19 ok? over £50 each saving!

EDIT: 255 is fine for 9.5J, seems there is a -1.05% (7mm) rolling diameter on them.

Ive run many many 9.5j 19s & always on 255 35 profile simply for the extra meat around the wheel for both protection of alloy & comfort on the road

Good to know. But surely the wider would offer more protection, or am I being thick?

Purchased a set of csl reps £750
8.5-9.5 with 235/35/19-265/30/19 accelera tyres seem fine too inc bolts and lockers from LKperformance.co.uk
Really great service had 255's on but showed too much rim for me so then swapped to 265 no rub at all.
