It is a bit counterintuitive, there must be a reason though!

Re: Fitting wind deflector - solved 'how to'.
Ive actually done it and fitted the wind deflector and brackets. I followed the instructions in this thread, but didn't bother with any paper templates.
Just covered the hoops with masking tape and positioned with blue tac before marking and drilling. It must have taken me at least 20 mins just checking the position before building up the courage to take a drill to my Zed!
I'm chuffed with the outcome! A big thank you guys for taking the time and the effort in showing us how it's done!

Hello. I'm about to do this, marked up the roll bar in accordance with the dimensions, but checking the hole distances from the body I get approx 5 mm out vs the marked holes using the brackets.
Measured a couple of times, can't see where I am making an error. - any suggestions?

Have you got the brackets the right way up?stevespg wrote:Hello. I'm about to do this, marked up the roll bar in accordance with the dimensions, but checking the hole distances from the body I get approx 5 mm out vs the marked holes using the brackets.

Yes I think so. though if i were to mark the holes with the bracket the other way up they would match the dimensions !!
This is a 2006 car, would the rubber trim at the bottom of the roll bar be different?
the only thing I can think of as one measurement (10mm) is from the top of this and the other is from the bottom?

The first hole measurement is 65mm up from the bottom of the trim around the roll hoop up the centre of the bracket and the top hole 145mm from the bottom up the centre of the bracket.
Your measurement seems to be from the top of the trim around the roll hoop.

Also looking at your pics you don't seem to have the bracket forward enough. From the back of the bracket it needs to be 7mm forward of the edge of the front roll bar cover.

thanks for your comments, ill double check everything again. i measured 10mm from the top of the rubber trim to the bottom of the bracket with the bracket 7/8 mm from the split line as per your post, marked the holes, then checked the holes from the bottom of the trim. doing this i get holes at 60 and 140, so 5mm shorter than your dimensions, which seem very clear
I can use the body as a reference point, OR the top of the rubber, but i get a 5mm difference.... quite a lot!

I know you'll want holes in the hoop covers exact, as would I, but if you are out by say 5mm up or down, the bracket will cover the slight mistake.
