Since I never did receive any response to my first posting on the subject, I'm gonna give it another try. Anyone ever replaced a doorlock activator on their Z? I know it's a common weakness so hoping I can get some tips. TIS mentioned a special bowden cable tool required, but all other BMW models how-to's I found didn't use one.
Car is stored for 4 more months and I found a good deal on an actuator, so timing is good to fix it now
Thanks!

Re: Doorlock activator replacement question
I've read about a kit, although never seen it.
My passenger door lock failed last year - I ended up getting the whole mechanism replaced by my local garage. Can't remember how much it all cost, but can have a look at the weekend when I'm back at home?

Replaced the passenger door one on our mini and didn't need any special tools.
You would like to think they would be similar.

Re: Doorlock activator replacement question
Had it estimated at $690 CDN by the dealer. I found the actuator for $106 so I'm obviously tempted to replace it myself!markeg wrote:I've read about a kit, although never seen it.

Re: Doorlock activator replacement question
I've fiddled around this area when fitting my made up led lights to the door handles.
There is Bowden cable that easily detaches from the door lock mechanism.
Beyond that never removed the lock.
Bit suspect as to model when you say common weakness.
Were are taking E89.
