Insurance Premiums

Post by The hairy angler » Tue Jun 23, 2015 1:09 pm

Hi all,
Last year I was insured fully comp with LV at a cost of £228 protected NCB.
This year nothing has changed....Still myself and wife.......Quote £328. Phoned them up to query quote...We can do a one year discount to £278. No explanation of 30% rise.
No Thanks said I...I will go with Saga!
Saga last year were £350.....This year, with better excesses than LV....quote came in at £224. On road parking, vandalism cover, LOW excesses, curtesy car etc.
I am sure they all make it up as they go along.
Regards, John Duggan aka The Hairy Angler. :driving:

You've done what everyone should do... ie never take the renewal quote with challenging it. There's always money off...!

Yep, even with my multi car policy with Admiral every year there is always that "special" discount they can apply on the phone. Always knocks a few hundred off that way.

Every year mine goes up with Elephant. Last year £303.00. Nothing has changed in the last year. Renewal has come through at £356.00
So I will call them, have the chat. Admiral (elephant and admiral are the same people) has already offered an alternative at £311.00. Elephant will match/better it. Job done.

So many people don't challenge it or forget to by the renewal date and so the increase goes through.

Totally agree, insurance companies rely upon customer apathy; paying a little extra each year without a fuss. It's always worth a call, well done

Like most business transactions. Loyalty will get you very little compared to going into a competitive market.

Yep just had that - AXA renewal was £365 up £80 on last year- done a search - went with Admiral at £228

Didn't give AXA a chance to re- quote - they should be making an effort!!

In the last 10 years I have been the Meercats best customer. Always compare the latest quote and always find a better deal than the renewal quote.

I cannot be bothered to call them to invite them to improve.

There's no concept of loyalty in this space - all of their marketing budget gets spent on recruiting new customers, whilst they are losing existing customers.

My Admiral renewal came through the post and the premium was down by 20% on my car automatically which shocked me :D

20% down hell bells! I can't recall my premiums ever reducing, you haven't changed postcode since the last renewal have you - like moved from central London to the outer Hebrides?
