Evolve supercharger for the E46 M3

For anyone wanting the sound of a carbon airbox with the ridiculous power of a supercharger, it seems your prayers have been answered.....almost.

Yes, it's for the e46 and no, I'd imagine it's not as loud as an airbox but it's got a great, throaty sound and I'm sure the extra 150-ish bhp will more than make up for it. Assuming the plenum fits then it's possibly 'only a couple of brackets and pipes' away from fitting the z4m!

Whether it actually gets developed for our cars remains to be seen, but it's good to see the S54 is still getting attention in these days of tuning boxes and farty exhausts

It looks (aesthetically) like a really nice kit, but for that stupid video I think they've should have made the little journey to Germany and post some autobahn vids with real acceleration footage.....
This video makes them look like a boy racer that puts up a video from his latest hobbyproject in his garage...

As above
I feel Ess are simply far far more professional and focused
Plus year after year of track cars using their products

Whereas here I feel it's thrown together on a wing and prayer with no real world useage nor testing

More a slap it on and drive

I dont know how that evolve carbon airbox works, but the usual 'CSL airbox' style is imho totally unsuitable for forced induction. So I hope they used a new/adapted design.
With forced induction air is force fed into the cylinders instead of atmospherically drawn into it.
For that you need whats called a plenum, which is a chamber (usually a collective chamber) that holds a minimium amount of air (depends on the engine size what the minimum size would be, usually min. 1,5 times the engine capacity as a rule of thumb).
The purpose of this chamber is that the air volume inside is so big that pressure hardly drops when a cylindervalve opens, ensuring better cylinder fill. A supercharger/turbo cant give a pulse of air (its a constant flow) so the air needs to be stored.
Thats why turbo/supercharged inlet manifolds usually are fairly simple of design. There's hardly any need to direct and regulate resonant air flows. The ram effect for cylinder filling comes from the pressure in the manifold (which needs to be as even as and as constant as possible), not from (accelerated) speed of the inlet air.
If you look at the inlet manifold from the m4, its also very simple. Just a cavity of a certain size with connections to the cylinders. No special ducting, no disa valves etc. Very basic. Just round off the edges a bit.

Hear you buddy
It's like a church that thing so it's simply going to be a large void
My mazzer is turbod and my plenum is not much larger than my 2 fists due as you say it's forced air
So why would the Airbox be of use?
As it's simply going to be too large to fill and keep a high pressure

Sounds awesome but the kit is going to cost around £8000 from memory so not cheap. But I expect they have put some serious time and money into the development of it and it will be of excellent quality.

nice!! i wish they'd have used a recirculating valve so I'm hoping they offer pipework than can support a plumb back system to cut the noise, i literally cant stand that sound of the blow off valve... and on a centrifugal s/c the sound is louder and longer than you can imagine.... looks really nice kit however, but i cant see you getting much change from 10k fitted, i don't know if its the ITB setup on the s54 but you hear alot more "induction" noise than you'd expect from going FI.... This setup seems to further amplify it but its much more pronounced that most would think already.
wish they'd showed alittle more of the engine bay , and from what i see here I'm not overly keen on the charge pipe routing, it will be heat soaking up their, plus its kind of unsightly, so i think that could use a revision, but i guess thats being picky, and good to see another A/A charge cooled setup.
very nice to see another kit coming to market, and i love that blower, really nice unit! Would love a UK z4m to get this but at these price points these kits represent a very large portion of the cars value so it really takes a dedicated owner.

The s54 with boost is quite literally.... near motoring perfection.

Worst video ever! A greyed out dash and camera at dodgy angle! :o Surely that's not a company advertising their product? It's just some chav giving Bmw drivers a bad name by speeding through a village. Genuinely, surely not?
