Vibratech mounts, why not?
Hey M ers'
I'm finding M ownership soooo much better the 2nd time around, I won't go on about it now, probably post some babbling drivel about why some other time.....I bet you can't wait huh....
Anyhoo, we know about the Vibratech engine mounts, and whilst it's fine as is, if there's an improvement to be made, which it sounds as if they do to a fair degree, I'm up for it. My question then is simple, anyone have any negative things to say about them based on experience or otherwise? I can't find a reason not to, apart from cost, but if something is well worth doing and they're not mega bucks so why not. As much as I drool over an M on gen CSL's, I don't think I'll be after a set as 1, I simply can't afford any, but 2, and the main reason, this car is all about the drive, I'm really enjoying it, so anything that might lessen that is a no no, alternatively anything that improves it will be used as funds permit.
Any thoughts lovelies..?

Some of the guys across the pond have fashioned a heat shield for one side as it cops a lot of heat from the header. Aside from that, they are pretty darn awesome.

Yes I've read about heat being a potential issue. It's a case of see what I can make up when I fit them, although it won't be used on track, at least not yet anyway.

I think driving/commuting in the UK or in a dry, hot US state will also make a difference

Small amount of vibration at idle but otherwise no downside.
I reused the small heat shield there as standard, although that was on an N52 so don't know if an S54 is the same.

Better control of that big heavy lump so the car changes direction better in corners and it can help gear changes to be smoother.

Very noticeable difference on handling and gear changes. Just makes the whole car feel more connected, very very slight vibration on idle however not at all intrusive. Best mod to date for the money.

For me it was a pretty much unnoticeable difference. The only real improvement I have felt is in the 1st-2nd shift denial syndrome, which is worth it in itself.
NVH & handling all felt the same. My oem mounts were in good nick though. I'm referring here to their road mounts, not their track mounts.
