Nurburgring lap

Post by dannyg_m3 » Sun Apr 16, 2017 4:53 pm

Hi All,

Hope you're all getting out in your Zed's now that the weather is on the up!

I've just come back from a trip to the 'Ring in my Z4M Coupe.

Managed an 8:00 minute lap on this video which as you can see has two fairly major traffic / yellow flag sections.

In the afternoon I did a 7:47 with only one small hold up but unfortunately my GoPro ran out of battery, however I do have the data on Harry's Lap timer :)

Car felt great, and really happy with it, but I now plan to put a M3 GTS spoiler on the boot to help with high speed stability as she get's a little light at the back end.

Here's the lap, hope you enjoy it.

Great lap, and video, thanks for sharing. I've never seen a vid that manages to show the elevation change so well for some reason. I must go one day.
Who built the diff for you? Did you keep the same final drive? Big improvement over stock? Cheers

Yes it has a Gruppe M induction kit and BCS power valve back boxes... Off topic, but I want a decat mid section next..

JC Racing built the diff... standard final drive, but the 4 plate system really secures the back end under acceleration..

Not wanting to sound pedantic but ur missin about 20secs from dottinger arent u? Was hoping to see what ur vmax would look like there but vid cuts early :(
U thought about using the video overlay for harrys lap timer?
And i thought u took carrussel pretty swift - that would have shakien my fillings out :o

It's a Bridge-to-Gantry lap, not a full lap - and the video starts just after he passes under the Bridge.

It seems to stop before he's gone under the Gantry though - although not by much

Although if it was recorded on a track day, then you'd be hitting the Bridge much fast than if you'd just left the barriers - but that would only add 5 seconds - so still a very quick lap.

Best I can manage nowadays is about 8m30s - unless my mate in his 500bhp R33 GTR is acting as pace setter/bulldozer :P

Frisky driving!
Oh the 888 whine.. havent heard that since my Fiat Coupe. :)
Seems the first half was exceptionally quick, from the carusell onwards I think I could match. Only made 8.44 yet but on stock suspension and tires.
is that a crash harness to your helmet? (Forgot the name of it)

Vmax on the track is true 155 mph on the limter down Dottinger.

I would like to know how to over lay the data from Harry's lap timer but I don't know how to!

I never push too hard on the second half of the circuit as it's very technical and one error results in definite barrier action- I love my car and don't want it in the barrier lol.

I have a HANS device attached to my helmet just in case....

Thanks for all the comments

Awesome. I'm from South Africa and will be in Germany soon. Any chance you plan on going back to the ring any time soon? Would love to see a Z4M do the ring in person :driving:
