Using an M Roadster as a DD

Post by houtie123 » Sun Feb 12, 2017 12:09 am

Since I got my M Roadster recently, I've been mulling whether to use it as my daily driver. It's already got a few k's on it (80000km) , but the dilemma is whether to keep it as a weekend toy , or to use it most if the time. (Which was my original plan) I have use of other cars, petrol is not an issue and my commute isn't so long, and is on nice country roads. I just wondered what other M owners tend to do? Garage queen or Daily Drive?

I bought mine as a weekend fair weather toy 39k miles. I have a audi TT RS as a daily, its softer cheaper to run, behaves much better in wet and cold winter manchester weather. Itching for dry days to drive the ///M though :)

Mine too has 80k kms and I daily drive to work 15mins each way. I like to think that in a couple of years I'll grab a cheap 1 series or something to use as my daily drive and let the M be a weekend warrior but we'll see what happens ;)

I use mine as a DD doing roughly 9500miles a year. I only picked mine up in October so I've had to take it easy over these colder winter months. Since then it's returned 22.51mpg on a commute (18 miles each way) of B roads and motorway which I don't think is too bad at all!

Use mine as a daily too, only about 5k miles a year overall. Just bought a new Range Rover Sport so will use that on longer journeys when the weather is poor.

Used my coupe as a daily since I bought it, doing about 20,000 miles a year in it.

As long as you stay on top of the maintenance, it will be fine.

Thanks for all the input! I am tending to head somewhere between the garage queen and DD positions- using it once to twice for work, plus the weekends.
I have my trusty bakkie to use on the other days.

When I see the price of fuel in the UK, I want to weep.
Price per litre here is now R12.80 , which is about 75p. And everyone here is complaining like hell.
Although obviously its a function of many other things......not least the cost of living generally here....
