Suspension KW V3 & what front top mounts?

Post by pHilli0 » Tue Jul 12, 2016 7:06 pm

Well I ordered the turner e36 shim kit from ca. Roy called today and cancelled the order. Said the price online was old and incorrect. He said he had sold a few sets and people had complained they hadnt done the job as expected. So he didnt sell them anymore. Confused?

these are really nice, still use them to this very day so i can get more camber using LESS of the camber plate, as using the camber plate the bolts become covered once yo try to slight deeper into Neg camber so they strut needs to be dropped to to adjust due to the small opening in the suspension top turret.

Hmm how strange. I will try and somewhere to buy a set from. I see they are 15 dollars on the turner site but 51 pounds to ship lol. Must be a cheaper way than that. Roy's online price was 21.97 inc VAT and shipping which seemed like a good deal lol

I would swim to the USA and back, then pay double the asking price just to buy them from someone other than Roy at CA Automotive (or CA Technologies or CA International or any other name he trades under).....!

very strange indeed theirs no way they can not do as described... your shimming the bottom of damper outwards, no tricks, no wizardry it just works and still to this day is used amongst classics etc to gain meaningful camber., which is exactly how porsche do it on some of their GT models of recent too...

its cheaper than camber plates which on this car are a PITA anyway due to the small turret hole rendering most of the adjustment useless when they are installed on the car!!

You can just order the bolts and washers from any online hardware store. I'm using them and they did what was expected, they give about .5 degree of camber per washer.

This link helped me http://www.zpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=441043

I've found this too. I can get enough negative camber with the KW camber plates for my purposes, but I'm running more conservative wheels than you. The heads of the Torx bolts are fairly soft too, so don't hold up well to repeated adjustment.

exactly why i still run them, they give me more camber using less of the plate, and the camber used is now easily achievable in the available window.

I used these bolts from ebay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/231821119261? ... EBIDX%3AIT
Same grade steel as BMW use but slightly longer 25mm, for safety. The combination of a thin, stainless washer and removing the camber pins gives me plenty of negative camber. :)

What washers did you use Dave?

I think I went with these ones: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/321934199740? ... EBIDX%3AIT

If you want more camber then go for a slightly thicker washer, I found this was enough for me. Oh, and I'd advise a mild thread lock on the bolts. :)

Awesome, thanks Dave! I have ordered:

1 pack of m12 x 25mm bolts
20 m12 washers

Happy days. And so much cheaper than the turner shim kit at 25 quid :)
