Z4MC Brakes etc.

Post by Attilio » Sun Nov 26, 2017 2:46 pm

Hi,

I was told I will have to replace discs all round next time the pads are worn (I have roughly 40% left). I came across a full set of bmw components (discs, pads, clips and sensors all round) for £700. Does it make sense to buy ahead of time?

Thanks for your feedback

I’d try contact awesomeGTI and get a quote. Think mine were cheaper than £700 through them. Also have a look online with Black Friday deals still going online.

40%?? For or me, that would probably outlast the life of the car.

Thanks for all replies and advice!

I don’t think it would take too long to do though the meat left on the pads...
I forgot to mention that dealer said discs were heavily corroded and suggested replacing them when pads are gone...

Yes, all components are OEM from bmw dealer...
Checked Awesome GTI (thanks for the tip!) but it doesn’t seem to have discs (only big brake kit with calipers etc.)...

Bit of a thread revival, but as this thread is the most recent and the one I found when researching discs I thought I’d update it because the awesomegti prices above are very expensive, and searching the web brought back surprisingly few results.

It would be worth your while giving these guys a call : http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Ocean-Plymouth

I just got two OEM rear brake discs & wear sensor, incl. VAT and next day delivery, for £203. If I’d needed pads as well then it would have been only £249 for the lot. I can’t see fronts on there, but if you give them a call they will be able to sort you out. By far and away the cheapest I could find online which surprised the hell out of me.

Worth adding - whilst Sopers still do a forum discount, for stuff like these they don’t post any more because of the weight - they didn’t even offer me the option to pay for postage, would only accept collection in person :x

Good to know A! My car has been at the dealers for weeks for something else, but they’ve come across a seized calliper; which might mean new discs and pads too. So I will give ocean a try if this turns out to be the case.

These don’t look too badly priced either ... although not OEM

Harry Fairbairn I have found to be the best bmw dealer for parts. £88.88 incl vat and delivery for each rear disk 34 21 2 282 304.
Your point stands though that most bmw dealers are cheaper than any other source for a variety of parts, plus you get a 2 year fitted warranty on any part you buy (doesn't need to have been fitted by them).

That’ll teach me to ask a question before going ahead and buying them :D

They were £188 the pair though, so not too much more expensive.
