Good deal on front discs...

Post by Angelus666 » Tue Oct 17, 2017 3:39 pm

So, got a great deal on genuine front discs from Rybrook BMW at £299.62 for the pair! They are listing them on ebay at this price, so gave them a call and it also includes next day delivery and send them via courier free of charge....so, a proper deal all in! I was going to buy them from eurocarparts on the 50% off deal a couple of weeks back, but forgot to pick them up and now they're out of stock...

I said I'd share the deal with the forum...so this is me doing that.

It is obscene how much they cost.
Back in 2015, when I owned an M3, Eurocarparts made a mistake on their ebay listing. Managed to get a pair of fronts for £91 delivered. £66 for one side and £25 the other. A lot of peoples orders were canceled or only got one side, but I was lucky and got both. Turned out I didn't even really need them once I took off the old ones to find they had loads of life left in them.

It's also worth noting that the M discs can be skimmed to bring them back to almost perfect condition at least once in their lifetime. I had them done on my E46 M3 for £15 each and they literally came back like new (albeit a couple of mm thinner).

Yeah, I get that...but these cars are 10 years old and most of the consumables really need changing at this time in their life.....£300 for 2 discs isn't really too bad IMO.

I actually bought a set from Ryebrooks on eBay two weeks ago for £280, they’ve put the price up since. I don’t need them just now but at that price I’ll put them aside until required.

Great price. Drop some performance friction Z-rated pads in there (.11 compound) and you are good to go for as much fast road work as you can throw at it.

Which are the best pads to match with the stock set up for fast road use?

Performance friction Z-rated pads (.11 compound). When the discs are glowing a dull orange they do groan a bit but still work just fine. Importantly, also good from cold, no squeal and very low dust. Believe me, I have tried a lot over the years.
