Billy Connolly says there's no such thing as bad weather in Scotland, just the wrong clothing ! :D Get some waterproofs and boots on and get out there and embrace the elements and when the rain stops get the hood down in the Zed !

We ended up worrying about the weather and flew out to Cannes in the South of France instead to have some beach time :D We will do Scotland another time. Hope it settles down for you and you have a lovely trip
Ah, right - I was waiting for your Scotland report to compare.

Cheers, weather has to break soon :driving:

Sorry to hear you had such bad luck with the weather, the west coast is fabulous in the sunshine.

Unfortunately you chose the wrong time of year; we regularly go in May and have yet to have a bad week.

It's been blazing sun down here on the east coast for the last 2 days (windy mind.. but sunny! ).

If you get the chance, head out along the north a bit towards Durness and Tongue, and a good blast round the Loch Ness road. that will take the pain away! :D

do your best to embrace the weather - wouldnt be scotland if it wasnt raining, but definitely still worth getting out there for a drive. Did the NC500 a couple of years ago but deliberately missed Skye - excellent reason to return to scotland again!

what's your entire holiday route marlon?

FWIW i did scotland with similar weather prediction. SCotland weather is always that - but youll find 'rain' means 'passing blasts of rain from minor to heavy, with bursts of sunshine intertwined'. for us londoners rain = RAIN, but it seemed like all weather forecasts just report rain all the time up there, but most of the time for us it was actually dry, with light passing spells of rain.

honestly lots of the places we went wouldn't of mattered what the weather was - some even added to the photos, and if you're travelling any real distance youll be going in and out of the weather too (or running away from it - as we did).

I'd definitely consider driving around the weather :) raintoday.co.uk will give you a good idea of where's gona be hit with what, it looks clear today - i'd be off to Applecross asap :p

If stuck for something to do because of bad weather, it is touristy but surprisingly well decked out and quite interesting to tour - Eilean Donan Castle, just right off the skye bridge (reasonable quality cafe there too). Equally the ferry over to Mallaig (if its rough, youll want good sea legs), and grab some fish an chips.
