At long last our Miele washer has stopped, it was working perfectly, then the next time we went to use it, it won't turn on, no lights, nothing. If anyone knows these machines or what the problem may be, I would appreciate any advice.

Try the obvious first. Check the fuse in the plug or fused spur

If there is power at the machine itself a lot of the newer appliances have a smaller fast blow fuse attached to the circuit board. Failing that an engineer visit

Hi, I'd probably try some disassembley in the hope of finding a circuit board borne reset button or small fuse-maybe even a dry joint on the power circuit? I had the same with our last gas boiler mother board, my home soldering skills dragged it out for another few months & then I found a place that offered exchange reconditioned boards for around £35 instead of £200ish for a new one-that kept it working for approx 5years until we replaced the whole boiler a few months ago.

I'd say it sounds electrical if nothing is happening at all when it's switched on. Can you hear anything when it's really quiet and switch it on?

Maybe there is a leaky joint inside that has blown something. I'd definitely have a look inside.

What, like I kicked you yesterday

I have been reading up on these and it could be the actual door lock mechanism as this shuts the whole machine down if it's defunct.
The problem is, I'm not sure if it is the switch and it's £75 for the part, not sure if this can be tested ??

I'd offer advice, however the last time I had the top of the washing machine trying to diagnose a fault, I electrocuted myself.

Get the engineer out.

I called a couple of repair places and was told to expect a £300 to £400 bill as it could be the main board ?? sooo, I had a quick youtube session and removed the seal clip for the door seal, then unscrewed the 2 screws holding the lock and noticed the remote door opening cord on the back of the switch. I gave it a wiggle and CLICK, I switched the power on and it lights up :yeah: :yeah:
Put it back together and full washing duties have resumed :D
Thanks all
