sell coupe or not??

Post by elevensies » Fri Dec 01, 2017 12:07 pm

im torn as to what to do,
i dont want to sell the coupe as its quite rare car on our roads and i can see them going up in value a few years because of this (like z3 coupes)
but
i want another American car, i want another dodge or plymouth in my life and the wife says i have to get rid of something first, hmmm

i get her point to be fair...

i want a E body car, plymouth cuda or dodge challenger, B bodies are generally too big for our roads

dam this used to be easy

Forget the value thing for a moment. Which car do you really want. That's the answer.

depends, mine is up for sale but simply because I can't justify keeping it anymore as it doesn't get used as much as I'd like.. they're lovely cars and might boom in value but at the same time they might just end up hoovering around where they are now.. I'd say as loooong term investment yes, as a short term, you better put your money else ware.

Lifes too short to worry if you make a couple of K. I cant see them appreciating a great deal they are always in the M shadow.

How much is the fun and experience worth.

Coupes are nice cars but they arent exotic, they are good value and great cars but there are a lot of great cars.

this is my old A body dodge dart

B body is charger size
E body is similar size to A bodys apart from they are wider

my heart says another american, i love the dam things, my mind (and im not really bothered about appreciation in value, its more of a rarity thing for my coupe) says dont be daft stick with the bmw, it will be better in the long run.

american cars especially dodge are horrendously expensive to own, nearly every part need importing, and they need specialist garages.... im lucky in some part as i know one of the best guys in the business, but he isnt cheap.....

think the bmw is staying for now, had a really good think on it today

Glad you have managed to decide OP.

I've always fancied an American car, but haven't got around to owning one - yet!

But I wouldn't part with my Z4C to get one - I think I prefer a back road blast to a burn-out.

So for now, enjoy your Z4. :driving:

Is getting rid of the wife not an option?

Do as I did. If you can afford it buy the replacement car first and then promise to put the coupe up for sale. then do a terrible job of selling the original car so you are "stuck" with exactly what you want...

The only problem with that option is you're then unlikely to be able to afford either of them.

Enjoying life is a lot more valuable than a few extra quid youll maybe make on a car . We've all regretted selling certain cars in our past, but investments can depreciate too , I , along with a few others on here , will no doubt remember the crash a number of years ago ?

Does that still go on?

I doubt it will have an agreed value, so probably not worth the effort - some brake testing might work (even if you do end up with whiplash).....
