Mova Planet Globes

Post by TitanTim » Thu Sep 14, 2017 2:30 pm

I've always been slightly fascinated by these globes which come in different sizes and versions, this one which is the earth with satellite cloud cover, you can also get other planets. Anyways this one arrived today and think they are pretty cool and slightly mesmerising as it appears to spin on its stand.

Don't ask me how they work except it's solar powered and works off the earths magnetic field, apparently :?

I Saw them for the first time in the shop on a cruise ship I was on a few weeks ago, I must say it baffled me how they worked :?

I'd like a look at that P51 when you get it. Any chance of a better photo of the Spitfire? Are they stainless or aluminium etc ? How much and where from ? WWII Warbirds is my passion.

The next video that auto plays explains how they work.

Basically the outside shell is static and then there's an oil layer which the inner shell spins within using a solar powered motor. Simples.

Hi Patriot,

Some pics in an earlier thread viewtopic.php?f=5&t=97090&hilit=spitfire

Its made by Authentic Models http://authenticmodels.com/collection2/ ... ne-models/ and they do a series of models. The Spitfire I think is made of wood clad in aluminium. The flaps/aerolons all work, wheels retract and canopy slides back. They come ready built but you have to attach the wings which slot into the fuselage and held with screws along with the propellor blades which slot into the spinner. They're not cheap to buy but I bought the spitfire at an auction not knowing what it was or who made it and paid just over £300, it generally retails between 450 and 550, the Mustang is about the same price. Doing a Google search usually brings them up at different prices. I'm saving up for the Mustang :)
