Petrol Prices!

I was looking at some 320d M Sport at lunch time. I can save £60 a month on fuel, approx. £100 on annual road tax, and insurance. But 4-pot diesel engine..... :(

I've searched all over and it looks like the 320d is not available to Canucks, just the 335d. Je ne comprends pas. (WTF) Another interesting car we can't get.

A round trip to work (48 miles) costs me £8.43 (30 mpg) in Zed, but £5.15 in 320d (50 mpg).

My round trip is 53 miles and my Chev Silverado gets 18 mpg. We try to carpool as it's out in the country so my costs are actually about 40% of driving solo. Even here with our better fuel prices it still adds up pretty quick at 18mpg.

I can't wait 'til I can get the Zed out at over 30mpg. Another 6 weeks or so to wait.... :x

Australia is a lot warmer than Canada, but it's full of Australians. :poke: :poke:
True, but the more of us that move out there, the less "Australians" there will be as a percentage of the population :poke:

Seriously though, love the country, good attitude to life. Of course I've yet to visit Canada but I'm pretty sure I've love that too: as long as I'm near somewhere decent for mountain-biking I'd be happy. Could become my new number one when (not if) I visit 8)

There's a ton of mountain biking around here in the foothills of the Rockies, you have to burn an hours worth of gas to get to Banff/Canmore and the trails are plentiful. It's great in the summer, only good in winter if you are a ski fanatic. Lake Louise is one of the top ski areas in the world. (An hour and a half away) and petrol leaks out of the ground all over the place. OK that was a bit of BS but we do make it here. :D and tax the s**t out of it as well.

It would actually be really cool to spend northern winters in Oz and Summers in CA. :D

Well, the latest bi-product of high petrol prices near me is car petrol tank draining!! :x

6 cars near where I live had their petrol tanks broken into last week and drained overnight! If they can't get into the fuel filler, they have been drilling the tanks!!! :x

Police think they are targeting a quiet area then moving on so be vigilant!!

But not every car has full tank of fuel all the times.

I never have a full tank. I normally have it somewhere between 1/4 and 3/4 :) The car is just too heavy with a full tank.

It cost me 53 quid to fill my car. This is from a near empty tank. Does this sound right?

The nozzle is cut off sharpish tbh in the Z4. Is it possible to keep on pumping more into it?

In the Merc, the nozzle cuts off, but I can keep on pumping more diesel in until the car is full.

I know, but that still doesn't stop them drilling the tank! Don't think they look into whether it's full or not! Still means you have a new tank to buy! :(

I remember on Ford cars a few years ago, the petrol gauge used to continue working (and tell you how much fuel was in the car) after the key was removed and car locked. Not sure if modern Ford's do this?

Didn't catch this one last year!!

When the UK Government put VAT down last year they levied 2p a litre increase on fuel to make up for loss of revenue! Now they have put VAT back up, they have left the 2p increase!!! :x

Ha, I was about to post up exactly the same point. My wife's older car a few years ago (a T-plate Fiesta) did that and I remember draining a good amount of the fuel out before we left her car parked up at the airport for 2 weeks for a holiday. Petrol gauge was perfectly visible from outside and worked even when car was locked up.

Anyone hit 120p on Super Unleaded yet? 119.9 here

Yep! One garage by me has been over 120p for over a week now! Noticed normal unleaded and diesel have hit the same price this morning @ 114p!

I'm spending around £30-40 a week now on my Z4 on fuel, and this is on a car I don't use much during the day! :o

I use my 50cc Aprillia scooter now more for work. That costs me £3-4 every 2 weeks!! :P

You wouldn't say that if you saw the traffic I have to get through to get home! By car 12 min to get to work, average 40 min to get home on the same route because of rush hour! I can get both ways in 10 min flat on the scooter as I use bus lanes and side roads!! (naughty, but hay!). Can't even beat that time on my 1700cc motorbike!!

Also, it's been chipped! Eats M's for breakfast off the lights! :P

Out of all the vehicles I own at the moment, that scooter is the one I'd never sell! Never let me down and pocket money to keep on the road!

So real life performance is equivalent to the sDrive 35i then ... :poke:
