Seriously...

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 500wt_1414

The car is a burnt out shell, with no gearbox, suspension or interior - He hasn't even got the VIN plates as they melted!

Quote "The shell is still here, the vin tags melted, v5 in my name.
If you don't want to collect I will send necessary by registered post ;-)"

If that's not simply selling an ID to enable someone's P&J to be stolen and rung, then what is...

I would assume the insurance company would have paid out for the car. So perhaps down as a total loss. Actually after awhile all cars in Edinburgh look like this :D

Listing states no claim made.

Just had a quick check, that car was an import and isn't currently on the VCar register.

happens all the time in the classic car world. VIN plates and Chassis numbers are either screwed or at best riveted in place!

I've heard of one car actually being used to legitimise 3 log books and hence vehicle IDs complete with MOT and 'free' tax. Once the ID is established the reg can be removed and sold as private plate and still the ID is valid.
now I'm about to have more time I've suddenly got less toys to play with!

Not necessarily being used for ringing a stolen motor. Its for an Escort RS2000 - very popular on the heritage rally scene. One of my colleagues runs a Mk1 rally Escort, bought a scrap shell / V5 logbook, transferred the VIN to a brand new body shell and now enters heritage rallies in his "original" Mk 1 Escort!
