108s and Bridgestone Runflats

Post by russy01 » Tue Apr 04, 2017 3:14 pm

Afternoon,

Car I am looking to purchase has a set of 108s which need a Refurb, but are also fitted with a very new set of Bridgestone Runflats (only done 500miles)...

I like the 108s, but dont like the look of the cost of a full refurb and the idea they will only deteriorate again :( and I certainly dont want the Runflats...

What are my options?

- Do I have a basic refurb of the 108s to smarten them up and live with the RFT's - how bad are they on the Z?
- Do I have a basic refurb of the 108s and stick some new mid-range rubber on? What am I likely to sell the RFTs for?
- Do I sell the 108s with the RFTs and buy different wheels and tyres. (But is anybody actually going to want to buy this!)

Ultimately I am blowing my car budget out the water on the car purchase, so dont really have much £££ spare to do it all at the moment...

I have attached an image of a wheel so you can see their current condition.

Thanks in advance.

Hello mate, post some details of the car looking at as you may get some advice that could help lower the asking price. 108's look nice but do seem to degrade well. RFT's are not good on these cars, you will notice a big difference between non RFT's and RFT's

The car isnt advertised, so I cannot send you a link etc. But its a forum car and the price has been adjusted accordingly - however this doesnt give me spare £££, it simply brings the price down into my budget.

Any advice on reasonably priced mid-range tyres, p.s the car is going to be used on sunny days only, so I dont want ditch finders, but at the same time I dont need anything too special...

You could go for a cheap refurb, there's a thread on here about a place in Birmingham, that does each wheel for £20, Gold, is the member who posted about them. Then save up and get what ever you want. The RF tyres just make the Z4 twitchy, so see if you can live with them.
