New wheels on - a bit different. Hüb!

Post by faz_b » Thu Jan 19, 2017 3:32 pm

Went to buy some wheels today with the intention of looking at AVA Memphis wheels or perhaps 3SDM. Ended up in R tech's showroom in St Albans and was shown a new brand which I hadn't heard of called Hüb. German built wheels with British and German design apparently, they appear to be exceptionally well built and some decent designs.

Ended going for a set of Hüb V5's in matt black. (19 x 9.5, 19 x 8.5, et30 and et40)

Similar to some designs already on market but slightly quirky enough to stand out from them? After install I definitely need to look at suspension now, but that aside (and the terrible photos!!), thoughts welcome. :)

Surprisingly, pretty reasonable! 235 nankangs on front, 265 nankangs rear, a tyre weld kit with compressor, the black bolt head plastic covers, wheels and fitting etc all in: £1150.

I believe thats on a promo price given they are trying to get the word out. figure should have been £1300 wheels and tyres alone without accessories. Not bad methinks. :)

Nice wheels.
With an offset of et30 on a 9.5 width on the rears I would be very careful if you are considering lowering as you may get rubbing

I like the wheels but wouldn't have gone for matt black. But if you are happy then that's all that matters.

Agree - I've looked long and hard for replacement wheels for mine, and find black wheels on a black car don't really do it for me (although some glossy black wheels work). The design is very cool though - just not that colour.

Look good but also agree that I wouldn't go for Matt black - looks like they are caked in brake dust to me.

not my cup of the, because i hate this black on black. silver wheels would be much nicer in my opinion. glad we don't all have the same taste, would be boring

Nice design of wheel but manager black on a black car isn't doing it for me. Too bland.

As for Nankangs - nothing to be said but it's how they get down to a combo price...

Latest review on tyre reviews:

I drive a fiesta st150. I am 42 so I don't drive as a boy racer. These tyres has no grip at all. Of course you will realised that when you really need grip.on dry it has low grip, but in wet conditions no grip at all......... Maybe it is a good product for a trailer or for suicide but don not bother with these cheap s**t. ( I bought the car with these 'tyres') I would not say 'nankang tyres', these are just spacers between wheels and the asphalt.
