Will these rims fit?

Post by lukejadi » Sat Dec 17, 2016 12:24 pm

Hello guys. That's my first post here :) I bought Orange Valencia Z4 two months ago as one of the latest in production. Now I'm looking for rims for summer and I would like to buy 19" BBS ST in satin himalaya-grey colour. But the problem is the maximum size of these is 8.5". The BMW suggests to put:

front 8Jx19 ET29
rear 9Jx19 ET40

So can I buy the same rims on front and rear? These BBSs are 8.5Jx19 ET32. Any spacers needed on rear?

The second question is the tires. What sizes then? Also the same on all rims or i.e. 235/35R19 front and 245/30R19 rear?

Here is my Z4 with OEM 17" rims and with photoshoped BBS :)

Thank you guys and best regards!

Welcome to the forum , great colour 89 & fine choice of alloys :)

They would fit but 10mm/ 15mm on rear would ideally be needed to enhance the staggered stance & give you a look of standard OEM 19s
Tyre sizes could be any of a number of combinations
Your car is Se suspension set up ( not lowered ) so i would be going for a 35 rear & front profile
8.5js 225 35 front 245 35 rear would be my choice but you could go square 235 35

here's my own Se 89 i had on 19s (235 40 8.5j & 255 35 on a 9.5j )

Thank you mr wilks :)
So I'm ordering the rims today!

BTW is your car lowered? I am going to lower it 15-20mm using Eibach springs in the future.

No mine was not lowered , if you do plan lowering then pay more attention to tyre sizes , possibly 225 35 front

Wouldn't the 8.5 rim with an offset of et32 actually sit 2mm further out than the original 9'' rim with an offset et40 even without spacers?

Indeed but 2mm is not likely to be noticeable & standard rear 89 fitment can take a wider stance plus square set up on widths + offsets also benefits with a spacer added to give a more OEM look ?
Just my own preference , it may or may not be right :?

Unfortunately the BBS rims are no longer produced or the producer haven't got so many orders to start the production line. I was told to expect it this summer or... not. So I started to look for something similar and I have found it! The Borbet have released to the market new rims that look almost the same - the Y model. I ordered them in titan matt. The specification of my current setup is:

Borbet Y titan matt 9,0x19" et 30 front and rear.
Kumho ECSTA LE SPORT KU39 235/35 R19 for the front
Kumho KU39 255/30 R19 for the rear.

Looks like needed lowering springs right now... ;)

Nice, a 15-20mm drop would help the looks even further!

Nice looking wheels but why the hell did they put the number stamp on the outside of the rim?
